Zodiac Summer Music Academy & Festival:
The Zodiac Music Academy & Festival is an intense summer musical training and performing academy in the heart of the French Alps. We invite teenaged music students and young professionals to spend two weeks of intense musical training and performing in one of the most stunningly beautiful corners of the world: the South of France, Côte d'Azur region (French Riviera). As part of this 2-week intensive summer music immersion camp, students can also take French language classes.
2-Week Summer Music Immersion Camp for Music Students & Young Professionals:
The Zodiac Music Academy & Festival is designed to provide intense musical training and performance opportunity, while exposing young musicians to French culture and its way of music-making. Course features include:
- Private Instruction:
Each student will have 4, one-hour, individual lessons with the professor of their choice.
- Chamber Music Coaching:
Students will be assigned to a chamber music ensemble, which will meet and rehearse daily. Each ensemble, will receive four, one-hour coachings from the Zodiac Trio and the attending faculty.
- Masterclasses:
Each student will participate in at least 1 public masterclasses given by visiting guest artists of international stature and the attending faculty.
- Specialized Classes / Clinics / Seminars:
In addition to clinics and studio labs organized by the attending faculty, the Zodiac Music Academy & Festival will present the following educational clinics, open to all students:
- "The Art of Practicing" (with Sarah Plum and Maureen Hurd-Hause)
- "Sight-reading Competition" (with Sergio Pallottelli)
- "The Arts of the Orchestra Audition" (with members of the Detroit and the Pittsburg Symphony Orchestras)
- "Finding Your Place in the Music Industry: Entrepreneurship and beyond..." (with Mariam Adam, Stephanie Jutt, Sergio Pallottelli and Kliment Krylovskiy)
-Solo Performance:
Each student is guaranteed to give at least one solo performance, and to participate in a chamber music performance. All performances are video and audio recorded, and are made available to the students at the end of the session.
- Activities & Excursions:
The Festival will organize two excursions to places of interest in the Côte d'Azur region.
- Accommodations & Boarding:
The students will be provided dorm-style lodging, and will receive breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
- French Language Instruction:
Group French lessons will be available on site free of charge.
