Deutsches Haus is a non-profit organization and operates under the umbrella of the Faculty of Arts and Science of New York University; since 1977 its university affiliation has provided a solid academic basis. We offer German Language Courses for adults and children and are operating as the official Language program of the Goethe-Institut New York, as well as its official examination center.

Our children's classes cater to both bilingual German children as well as beginners, Pre-K through age 10. Adults may register for courses in all language levels from beginner through very proficient. Deutsches Haus also offers a wide range of cultural events and a bookclub.

The Deutsches Haus is located in a 19th-century mews building in the heart of Manhattan's Greenwich Village, NY City. When you come to the Deutsches Haus, you will notice all our teachers & staff work here, because we love the Deutsches Haus. Founded in 1926 in Manhatten, New York by a group of American and Chinese educators, China Institute in America is the oldest educational and cultural organization in the United States focused on advancing a deeper understanding of China through programs in education, culture, business and art in the belief that cross-cultural understanding strengthens our global community. China Institute offers Mandarin language immersion programs designed for preschool, kindergarten, elementary and high school students.

For students with little or no prior background in Mandarin, the Institute also offers a six-week long Mandarin Chinese Summer Immersion Academy in New York City. The program offers scholarships directed especially at disadvantaged youth whose families may not be able to provide them with access to the opportunity to learn Mandarin. For students with a substantial prior background in Mandarin, China Institute offers a seven-week intensive Chinese language program in Beijing, China. The program provides students with intensive Mandarin language instruction equivalent to one year of study encouraging students to forge enduring relationships with their Chinese host families.
