Founded in 1926 in Manhatten, New York by a group of American and Chinese educators, China Institute in America is the oldest educational and cultural organization in the United States focused on advancing a deeper understanding of China through programs in education, culture, business and art in the belief that cross-cultural understanding strengthens our global community. China Institute offers Mandarin language immersion programs designed for preschool, kindergarten, elementary and high school students. For students with little or no prior background in Mandarin, the Institute also offers a six-week long Mandarin Chinese Summer Immersion Academy in New York City. The program offers scholarships directed especially at disadvantaged youth whose families may not be able to provide them with access to the opportunity to learn Mandarin. For students with a substantial prior background in Mandarin, China Institute offers a seven-week intensive Chinese language program in Beijing, China. Located in the heart of NYC on Manhattan's Upper East Side, Collina Italiana is an Italian Language school that offers year-round Italian language and culture programs to kids ages 2-12. All of our language programs provide comprehensive language learning and hands-on instruction in the arts to children. Our Teatro Italiano and Make an Italian Show programs offer language instruction through drama classes where children can bring their stories on stage.
