Conveniently located in Vancouver BC, Lost Boys Studios | School of Visual Effects is North America's only dedicated visual effects school. We offer an intensive 10-month accredited program supplying world-class training in photo-realistic 3D for VFX and compositing for film and television to students from all over Canada and international students. Students specializing in visual effects can go on to work as VFX or Pre-Visualization Artists in film, TV or videogames.

Advanced Visual Effects Diploma - 10 months:

This is a full-time accelerated program that covers television and feature film quality visual effects production, including 3D, compositing and live-action integration. Students should expect to put in a minimum of 40-60 hours per week, which includes 25 hours per week mandatory in-class time.

Our students work with the award-winning VFX Supervisor/Mentor, Mark Bénard, in a project-based learning environment, covering VFX pre-production and shooting, 3D for VFX and compositing. The program now includes a 8-week practicum in a local studio, so you gain industry mentorship and experience working in a pipeline before you even finish your schooling.

- Personal Fitness Training Program:
500-hour comprehensive program that can be completed in 6 months (5 hours a day, 4 days a week) or over the course of 1 year (8 hours every Saturday).

Training includes 300 hours of classroom instruction plus 200 hours supervised, hands-on gym time. You will also have a practical internship with 6 months of hands-on experience in a fitness facility with a personal trainer.

Court Transcription course:
• All classes are delivered by a professional transcriptionist who has worked for several years as an educator, a court reporter for the Ontario courts, and an ACT.

Digital Legal Monitor course:
• A digital monitor is also responsible for all of the duties of a court reporter, including marking exhibits, swearing in witnesses, and providing playbacks.

Online Court Transcription Certification Program:
Duration: 14 weeks

• The final exam takes place in-person in Toronto or Ottawa. 

Online Digital Legal Monitor / Court Reporter Program:
Duration: 4-16 weeks

• A DLM is a type of court reporter who uses audio equipment to record in-court proceedings.

• While this Digital Legal Monitor course is designed to be taken in 4 weeks, students will have access to the course for 4 months.
