Blackburn College:
Based in Carlinville, Macoupin County in Southwestern Illinois, Blackburn College is a four-year co-educational private liberal arts college that offers a range of Bachelor of Arts degree programs with more than 30 majors. - While cost reduction remains an important value of the work program still today, the opportunities it provides for student learning are paramount. As an integral part of student development at Blackburn College, the work program is a vehicle for personal growth including leadership opportunities and community involvement.
- Blackburn College is the only nationally recognized work college with a student-managed work program wherein students are responsible for the administration of the program including resource allocation, policy formulation, as well as direct supervision of their fellow students.
- All resident students are required to work a minimum of 160 hours each semester in partnership with faculty and staff to help provide virtually all services essential to college operations. Non-residents may petition for approval to participate in the work program and if approved are held to the same requirements as a resident student.
