Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree Programs:
Nursing (Registered Nurse - RN):
The Nursing Associate Degree program prepares students to work as entry-level nurses in doctors’ offices, medical centers and hospitals. The applied science portion of the program has two major components: the theory/didactic/lab component and the clinical externship component. The general education portion of the program includes coursework in English, math, developmental psychology, microbiology, and nutrition. Emphasis in this portion of the program is placed on enhancing students’ academic and interpersonal skills.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography:
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Associate Degree program prepares students to work as entry-level sonographers in doctors’ offices, medical imaging laboratories and hospitals, and grants successful graduates a two-year college degree. The applied science portion of the program has two major components: the theory/didactic/lab component and the clinical externship component. Emphasis in this portion of the program is placed on information and techniques required by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) (other requirements necessary to obtain ARDMS). The general education portion of the program includes coursework in reading, writing, basic math, basic science, psychology, and speech. Emphasis in this portion of the program is placed on enhancing students’ academic and interpersonal skills.

Medical Assistant:
The Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assistant Degree program provides students with thorough and practical training in medical and laboratory procedures, as well as general medical knowledge and training in the area of medical office procedures. The general education portion of the program includes coursework in reading, writing, basic math, basic science, psychology, and speech. Emphasis in this portion of the program is placed on enhancing students’ academic and interpersonal skills.

- Medical Terminology; Medical Communications; Law and Ethics for Medical Professionals; Medical Office Administration; Fundamentals of Computer Technology; Laboratory Techniques I; Laboratory Techniques II; Microbiology for Medical Professionals; Clinical Office Procedures; Electrocardiography with Interpretation; Pharmacology for Allied Health Professionals; Advanced Clinical Procedures; Medical Assistant Externship.
Dental Hygiene
The dental hygienist is a member of the oral health team who provides treatment to prevent oral health diseases. Clinical skills include performing oral health assessments, examining head, neck and oral regions for disease, exposing and processing dental radiographs, applying sealants and fluorides to prevent decay, providing nutritional counseling for maintenance of the oral cavity, fabricate athletic mouth guards, other diagnostic assessments, debridement (removing) of deposits from the tooth structures, and other patient services allowed by the State Board of Dentistry.

Medical Assistant:
Graduates of this program are thoroughly prepared for employment in a doctor’s office, both in general practice and in specialty practice, hospital, emergency room, clinic, and other health care settings. They are prepared to effectively perform tasks assigned or delegated by a supervising doctor in both the front and back offices. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with the clinical and administrative skills necessary to succeed in medical offices today.
Medical Assistants perform the necessary preparations of patients before they see the doctor. Medical Assistants perform such tasks as taking vital signs, performing EKGs, drawing blood, giving immunizations, and setting up examination rooms. Modern Medical Assistants aid the physician during routine clinical procedures and in-office surgeries. They also perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, ordering supplies, completing insurance forms, and initiating patient-related correspondence.
