Carleton College:
Carleton College is a small, private liberal arts college in the historic river town of Northfield, Minnesota that offers Bachelor of Arts degree programs in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. Carleton College is committed to providing a true liberal arts education, a curriculum that challenges our students to learn broadly and think deeply. Instead of training for one narrow career path, Carleton students develop the knowledge and skills to succeed in any walk of life.
A liberal arts college aims to educate its students broadly and well, exposing students to a wide variety of disciplines. Where some colleges are geared toward preparing you for a specific career, a liberal arts college focuses on teaching knowledge and skills that will serve you well throughout life, no matter what you do. This includes critical and analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, effective writing and speaking, and knowledge of many different subjects.
Mission Statement:
The mission of Carleton College is to provide an exceptional undergraduate liberal arts education. In pursuit of this mission, the College is devoted to academic excellence, distinguished by the creative interplay of teaching, learning, and scholarship, and dedicated to our diverse residential community and extensive international engagements.
The College’s aspiration is to prepare students to lead lives of learning that are broadly rewarding, professionally satisfying, and of service to humanity.
