Some courses can be completed in as short as 2 or 3 weeks, but students have up to one year to complete the course work. Some courses require an inexpensive text book that can be purchased online.

Why Choose TeachWisely?

Photo of Professional Development CEUs for Teachers in California & USATeachWisely partners closely with Fresno Pacific University, so all courses developed are carefully reviewed and approved by the Continuing Education Academic Committee.

All courses that TeachWisely offers are available online through the Moodle LMS (Learning Management System). Students work completely online and can submit assignments in various formats. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace and are given a notification when they are nearing their one year mark.

A six-month extension is available for students if necessary. The courses are designed with best practices in instructional design in mind, and the coursework supplies the teachers with materials and ideas that can be applied directly to the classroom. The instructor provides timely feedback and encouragement.

What types of assignments will I do?

Image of Professional Development CEUs for Teachers in California & USAAs a busy teacher, your time is limited. It's important that your time is not spent doing busy work. You want content that is relevant to your profession, provides authentic engagement with an instructor, and contains information that is research-based and practical for everyday practice in the classroom.

Therefore, the assignments that TeachWisely courses contain are designed to maximize your learning and make the most effective use of your time. Types of assignments include creating lesson plans, developing action plans, preparing presentations that you can use in your classroom, responding to videos, and reading current articles on best practices.

Some courses have unique assignments. In the course on gamification, students actually take part in a pirate-themed game called "The Search for the Ruby Gale." In the watercolor sketching course and sketchnote course, students submit sketches or artwork.

What is unique to the TeachWisely courses?

Photos of TeachWisely - Online Professional Development Courses for TeachersThe instructor of the TeachWisely courses, Rob Carey, has worked in education since 1990, teaching in public, private, and international schools here in the United States and in Europe. He has a master's degree in education, and his courses focus on student engagement and teacher health. His course on preventing teacher burnout is designed to mitigate the large number of teachers leaving the profession by helping teachers develop habits of self-care in the midst of busy schedules.

His book application courses are designed to restore the passion and joy of teaching that brings success to both the teacher and the students. His art course is designed to integrate the creativity of sketching and watercolor into other subjects to promote student interest, and his sketchnote course not only promotes engagement, but increased comprehension for any subject taught.
