Gisma Business School:
GISMA Business School in Hannover, Germany, was launched in 1999 as a joint initiative by the state of Lower Saxony and visionary private-sector enterprises. GISMA is a privately funded, self-administering institution of higher education. Our mission it is to empower management professionals to respond to the special challenges and stringent demands of today’s highly global business environment.
Full-time MBA
GISMA Business School is known for its unique general management program, which combines the quality of an internationally recognized U.S. MBA degree with extensive real-world experience in a German/European business context.
Our full-time MBA program is based on the core curriculum of our academic partner, Purdue University's Krannert School of Management, from which GISMA graduates receive one of their degrees upon completion of the program. The program is internationally accredited by the AACSB, and consistently rates among the Top 25 in international rankings. With the advent of a formal partnership between GISMA Business School and the Leibniz University of Hannover (LUH), GISMA graduates now receive not only a U.S. MBA degree, but also a German MBA degree granted by the LUH, state-accredited German university with a 200-year tradition.
Our faculty members are all experts in their fields, and come from equally diverse cultural backgrounds as our student body.
Being a concentrated course of study, GISMA’s full-time MBA program is completed in only 11 months, though based on the same core curriculum as comparable two-year MBA programs. This timeframe is challenging but of special benefit to those who prefer not to take an extended career break in order to earn their degree.
Practical relevance is a guiding principle at GISMA, and is reflected both in our chosen teaching methods and our academic program. Parallel to their studies, students can count on the Career Center for comprehensive guidance and job-finding assistance.
Executive MBA
GISMA Business School’s International Master’s in Management Program (IMM) is an extra-occupational Executive MBA curriculum for individuals from all over the world who have the potential to advance to executive positions in their globally active companies or institutions. Prospective participants have typically worked for an average of 10 years and have had initial experience in managerial positions.
The IMM is offered by GISMA in cooperation with three other prominent business schools: Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management (USA), TiasNimbas Business School of the Tilburg University & Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (the Netherlands), and Central European University’s CEU Business School (Hungary). IMM graduates earn both an American and a European MBA.
This 22-month program enables participants to achieve the best possible work/life/study balance. New knowledge and skills can be applied immediately on the job.
The core of this extra-occupational program consists of six 14-day residence periods at the four cooperating business schools and in Shanghai. The IMM is internationally accredited by the AACSB and the AMBA, and ranks among the Top 20 such programs throughout the world.
Young Professional MBA
GISMA Business School's Young Professional MBA program is a part-time MBA degree for young academics with first work experience. The program is aimed at participants with the potential to take on management responsibility within their companies and who would like to qualify themselves further without interrupting their career.
The program is a general management program just as the other GISMA MBA programs are and the electives on offer allow students to specialize. The majority of lecturers are of international origin and also teach the full-time and executive MBA programs at GISMA Business School. Graduates completing the Young Professional MBA earn their degree from the Leibniz Universität Hannover. The course is taught in English.
The program takes into account the demands placed on young employees. Lectures take place at the weekend (Fridays and Saturdays) so that earning a degree can easily be combined with the requirements of the workplace. The knowledge acquired can be applied immediately to daily business scenarios and forms the basis for a career in management.
A week long period of residence halfway through the program at our partner university, the Purdue University in the USA, complements the weekend structure of the program. Graduates become members of the worldwide GISMA alumni network.
