Personalized Spanish Language School Costa Rica:
Personalized Spanish was established in 2001 as a boutique school to offer a better approach to teaching a foreign language. With private (one on one), semi- private (max. 2 students) or mini group classes (3 people max) our school offers the ultimate customized program in Costa Rica, you wil not be cramped with other students, in this you get the guarantee that your time and money are well invested.

The school is located in a peaceful and safe suburban neighborhood between the two major cities of San Jose and Cartago. There is excellent public transportation with buses running regularly; it will take you only 30 minutes to get from here to downtown San Jose. We provide academic excellence and convenience for you picking you up at the international airport Juan Santa Maria and transferring you to your homestay or accommodation. We also offer volunteer opportunities.

Spanish Courses / Programs 
Before the student arrives a personalized learning plan is prepared based on:

Personalized Spanish offers different program options as well as the flexibility to add additional hours of private class time. You decide what will best meet your goals. Have your classes in a group with other students, or choose private classes. Take four hours of class each day or choose six. You can even add extra hours on the weekends, holidays or in the evening if you want. It's totally up to you.

Spanish Classes:
- 4 hours per day in mini-group Spanish classes 
- 4 hours per day private Spanish lessons
- 6 hours per day Spanish program (4 hours in mini-group + 2 private hours) INTENSIVE
- 6 hours per day private Spanish lessons INTENSIVE

Personalized Spanish classes begin each Monday. No matter what your current Spanish level is, you may begin classes on any Monday you wish and take classes for as many weeks as you wish.

Teaching Methods:
Personalized Spanish classes are flexible, using a variety of tools, materials and methods including music, videos, audiocassettes with conversation, role-play, games, pronunciation practices, vocabulary flashcards, situational prompts, etc. Each class includes grammar, pronunciation and conversation in Spanish.

Personalized Spanish was created as a result of having worked in the field of Spanish language training for many years. We believe that there has been a lack of schools offering personalized programs for their students. Our programs offer a nontraditional learning environment, giving our students tools for functioning in the real world.

Natural Learning Style is the key to our students’ fast, easy and effective learning of Spanish and better future recall and fluency in the use of the Spanish language. All people learn differently. Each of us has a unique way of perceiving and processing new information. Some people learn better by seeing, some by hearing, and some by practicing.

Some people need to see the big picture and understand the theory, while others need to approach their tasks step by step and in a practical way. At Personalized Spanish, we use scientifically proven proprietary techniques and methods of teaching Spanish language based on this principle.

To complement your Spanish classes, we offer cultural activities free of charge at least 3 or 4 times a week. These may include:

- Touring the Costa Rican National Theater, the oldest and most beautiful theater in the country.
- Visiting museums such as the National Museum, Jade Museum, or Gold Museum, all of which demonstrate Costa Rica's rich history.
- Attending traditional dance performances.
- Visiting the Central Market in San José where you can practice your Spanish negotiation skills buying anything from souvenirs and wedding cake decorations to new cowboy boots or the day's groceries.
- Cooking classes of typical Costa Rican cuisine
- Lectures about Central American culture.
- A presentation of the many different fruits of Costa Rica, many of which you have probably never seen or heard of before. You will have an opportunity to try them yourself as well as practice their names so perhaps you can find them again in the future.

Studying Spanish in Costa Rica has unique advantages. Costa Rica – known as a jewel of Central America – is a popular tourist destination and it is famous for its open, friendly, educated people, stunning natural beauty and biodiversity, modern facilities and high standard of living, but among the Spanish Language professionals it is acknowledged for its natives’ pure, un-accented, Castilian Spanish – a standard Spanish, which you can use with confidence in any Spanish speaking country.

Costa Rica is one of most beautiful countries in the world with a rich diverse natural environment. It's geographically unique location for nature and ecotourism lovers. Costa Rica has two beautiful costs, the Caribbean coast and the Pacific coast, with incredible beaches of white, black and gray sand and even a beach filled with tiny shells instead of sand. On these beaches, it is possible to surf to snorkel, dive and kayak. There are mountains of natural splendor and rain forests, just waiting to be explored.

Costa Rica also has active volcanoes, the most amazing are the Arenal Volcano with its red hot lava flows at night and small eruptions. At the Poás volcano you can actually walk to the edge of the crater and look into it. This is the third largest crater in the world.

Homestay accommodation with a local host family plays a particularly important role in the immersion method of learning Spanish. Students live with the Costa Rican family and share meals, conversations and everyday activities with them, learning to use the Spanish language in practical situations.

Our school is located in a safe, clean, beautiful upscale neighborhood and our students enjoy higher levels of meals and comforts offered to them by the upper-middle class families as compared to the typical homestay conditions offered by most other schools. Students have their own private room and laundry and cleaning service are included.

While we recommend staying with a Costa Rican family, we also offer accommodations in apt/hotels and apartments for students who prefer more privacy. For more information about this option, please contact us and specify your preference before your arrival, prices will vary.
