Personalized Spanish Language School Costa Rica:Personalized Spanish is a small Spanish language school in San Jose, Costa Rica offering Spanish classes to students from around the world. Personalized approach is at the center of our educational philosophy. We offer Spanish internship programs which last for 10 weeks and are available year round. Our internship programs are designed for participants who have at least 1 year of college Spanish or its equivalent. No previous work experience is required to participate in this program.

In agreement with the fundamental Personalized Spanish philosophy, the goal of the program is to benefit the host community and organization, as well as the intern.

tage 1: Intensive Spanish Classes (4 weeks, 80 hours):
Participants attend intensive Spanish classes 5 days a week for 4 hours a day. Classes are geared towards the individual abilities and needs of each student. Class size is limited to a maximum of 3 students. Teaching is done with emphasis on political and social conditions and environmental issues in Central America. Teachers supplement intensive conversation, grammar and practice with guest lectures and discussions on the environment, political processes, culture, development and women’s issues.
In addition to classes, students will have the opportunity to participate in a series of afternoon lectures, activities, and excursions, with an emphasis on social and environmental topics.
Stage 2: Structured Internship (5 weeks):
In the first week, the participants will have an orientation to gain a thorough understanding of the organization where the internship will take place. The program director, supervisor and the participants will work together to ensure that the goals of the internship are in line with the objectives of the program.
During the subsequent four weeks, the participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a Latino working environment and interact closely with their fellow Latino colleagues. This shall give the participants a real flavor of how the society functions in this part of the world.
Stage 3: Compile Final Report and Oral Presentation (1 week):
Upon completion of the five week internship, the participants will return to the institute for a week to compile a final written report (in Spanish) and prepare to present their report to their peers and teachers.
