New Hope International Preschool, Tokyo:
At New Hope International Preschool in Tokyo, eastern Japan, we welcome children from three years old through kindergarten age. Children may come from one to five days a week and experience the warm learning environment we are proud of.
- Everyone Is Welcome! Our preschool is for children from all backgrounds.
- English Is the Primary Language! Children experience language and culture firsthand from teachers and other students.
- Focus on Character Development! We encourage growth in kindness, friendliness, intellect, self-esteem and morals.
- Every Child Is Unique! We treasure each child's individuality.
- Joy and Excellence! An environment of joy and excellence fosters such an attitude in life. That's what we give our students.
- That children have vast moral, intellectual, spiritual, social and physical capacities which can and should be nurtured.
- That each child has unique gifts and interests that should be encouraged.
- That exposure to foreign language and culture at a young age will serve people throughout their lives whatever path they eventually choose.
- That an environment of joy and excellence (not perfection!) in early childhood will foster a lifestyle of joy and excellence as children grow up.
Our Graduates will
* Be equipped with kind hearts, friendly personalities, sharp minds, high self-esteem, a keen sense of right and wrong, and healthy bodies.
* Have a growing sense of their uniqueness: what makes them special, and what they can offer to their community.
* Be able to speak and understand English, and be respectful of and comfortable with cultures other than their own.
* Have a strong attitude of joy and excellence that will benefit them all through their lives.
Preschool Program; Kindergarten Program. Our main language is English. Children who attend other preschools are welcome to attend our weekday after school program, our summer school program, and our Saturday events.
To help children develop socially and individually we do activities in large groups, small groups, and individually, giving students choices within reasonable limits. We teach holistically, combining academic disciplines and approaches that are too often taught in isolation.
We welcome parental involvement in and out of the class. It is important for school life and home life to reinforce each other, so we maintain strong ties through letters, meetings, open classes, special events, and opportunities for parents to participate in our everyday activities. Our commitment to students goes beyond their preschool years. We offer after-school, weekend, and summer activities so we can serve our students even after they have graduated from our school.
