California Institute of Jewelry Training, Sacramento:
California Institute of Jewelry Training (CIJT) is located in Carmichael, a suburb of Sacramento CA. Students from all over the world come to CIJT to learn the skills and art of jewelry making, gemology, and appraising. The Jewelry Arts curriculum of CIJT is exceptional, and is a comprehensive, hands on program with intense individual instruction, testing and state of the art equipment. We have developed these programs to provide a thorough knowledge of metal art, jewelry design and gemstones to our students.

Jewelry Arts Certificate & Diploma Programs:
 
- Certificate in Jewelry Repair:
(12 weeks - Modules 1 & 2)

Module 1 - Introduction of basic procedures used to develop skills as a fine jeweler. Techniques covered include working with metal, developing finger dexterity, soldering, shaping, and creating four prong settings and piercing. Also covered are the skills required to repair and renovate through retipping, repronging and shank redevelopment.

Module 2 - Advanced skills from Module I are included with a wide variety of techniques and increasing degrees of difficulty in fabrication, setting and resetting stones, including basket fabrication. Styles of settings include 4-prong, 6-prong, flush, bezel, gypsy, and channel. Restoration and repair of intricate pieces are covered in this module as well.

- Diploma in Jewelry Arts:
(18 weeks - Modules 1 - 2 plus Module 3)

Module 3 – Designed to challenge the student in all aspects of training from Modules I & II. Emphasis is placed on design, wax carving, model making, casting, molding, injection and finishing cast pieces. Pave’ setting, illusion tops, strip settings and additional bead settings are a strong part of this curriculum, along with setting of marquise, pear, princess and a variety of different shaped stones. Design and Rendering is included in this module.

- Diploma in Advanced Jewelry Arts:
(24 weeks - Modules 1 - 3 plus Module 4) 
Module 4 – This module gives you the freedom to apply all the skills you have developed in the first three modules. Our students find this last module very exciting because it takes them beyond their critical thinking into the flow of true precision and creativity.

- Digital Goldsmith
This 4-day workshop takes you into the world of computerized jewelry design using Digital Goldsmith software. This program is ideal for the point-of-sale location in a jewelry store and offers you virtually unlimited possibilities for design ideas.

- Filigree 
A new twist on an old art form. Learn traditional filigree methods while creating your own designs.

- Metal Weaving
By applying fiber techniques to gold using the simplicity of primary shapes, you'll learn the techniques for creating your own woven sculptures that reveal their fluidity & depth as seen in the geometry of nature

- Gem Identification
4 day class which is a perfect and detailed introduction to the wonderful world of gemology. We study instrumentation used in gem identification with hands-on exercises and demonstrations. The perfect class for the beginning gemologist and/or a jewelry salesperson.

- Enameling/Cloisonné
One of our most popular classes, make one-of-a-kind cloisonné enameled jewelry using a variety of radiant and translucent, brilliantly colored enamel on fine silver. Make each a unique work with a personal meaning. Learn the techniques to create your own thoughts and visions. Beginners and advanced students welcome.

- Design and Rendering
This workshop teaches you the practical elements of design. You will learn how to transfer your design ideas to paper using basic rendering skills. Projects are developed to teach skills needed to work with customers on designing personal, original pieces of jewelry with emphasis on concepts and portfolio presentations.
