Learn French in Seattle:
Learn French in Seattle, founded in 1998 by Veronique Savoye, is a French tutoring service offering French Language instruction in Woodinville, WA, and several other locations on Seattle's Eastside. After an initial evaluation session, I will recommend a customized program based on your experience, your goals, and your learning style. We will not focus so much on levels (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). Rather, we will focus in two areas: on communicating verbally, and in writing; and on understanding, and being understood. We will use a variety of activities and materials to avoid routine, and will cover topics you are interested in.

Veronique Savoye - Founder:

Photo of French Tutoring in Seattle, WABonjour! My name is Veronique. A French native, I moved to the Seattle area with my husband in 1996. I have always been very interested in cultural differences. I completed a M.A. in English to teach English as a foreign language in Paris. Part of my college education was completed in the United States where I specialized in American studies. I later worked for American Express in France, where I particularly enjoyed training teams in several European markets and interacting with my US co-workers. I freelanced as a cross-cultural trainer after moving to Seattle's Eastside and was hired by local companies who were doing business with France.

Many people were asking me about learning French, or preparing for a trip to France, but many seemed hesitant to sign up for classes offered by local organizations. I founded Learn French in Seattle in 1998 offering French tutoring services, and my main focus was to do so in relaxed and friendly environment.

Learning French as an Adult:
Many prospective new students wonder: How difficult is it, really? When will I be fluent? Is there homework? I don't have much time to study: Will it work? My honest answer: “It depends”. It depends on your personality, and how easily you retain material. It depends on how much time you are willing to invest in learning the French language. Most importantly, it depends on your motivation. There is no miracle solution to learning French. Yes, it will take time, and work. Yes, we will study French grammar (some) so that you understand basic sentence structure. Yes, you will be expected to memorize some vocabulary.

As an adult learner, it is normal to feel intimidated or self-conscious when exploring a new skill. I work hard at providing a friendly and stimulating environment. Every week, you will look forward to your next lesson.

Student Testimonial:
"I began taking classes with Veronique to improve my French for our visits to France. I had no idea how much I would enjoy the classes and look forward to them each week! With such small classes, I really feel like I am receiving personal attention, as well as being able to really connect with my classmates. We spend a lot of time laughing, and I feel really comfortable speaking in class, regardless of my accuracy. I feel like my French has already improved already and I look forward to my next session!"
