Located in Ridgefield, Bergen County NJ, just 15 miles north-west of New York City, the Milestone Institute offers K-12 Enrichment Programs for children of all levels, including SAT Test Preparation, Reading, Writing and Math Tutoring, and ESL instruction. Enrichment Programs / Tutoring Services for K-12 Students

Reading Tutoring
At Milestone, we provide all K-12 students with instruction designed to improve their abilities to read critically, for content, tone, and purpose.

The skills in our reading programs include: vocabulary, phonics, word study, comparisons and contrasts, identifying cause and effect, recognizing the main idea, drawing conclusions, sequencing, making inferences, identifying the purpose and tone of a selection, figurative language, and critical analysis.

Writing Tutoring
The Milestone Institute writing programs for K-12 students teach and support all aspects of writing, including: grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, writing strategies, content organization, creative writing and essay writing. Our instructors have certification to teach students of all ages between K-12, and can make writing into an encouraging, organized activity for any student.

Math Tutoring Program
Mathematics is central to succeeding at any school. Whether your student has just begun elementary school, or is nearing graduation, the ability to handle math assignments is absolutely necessary to academic success. As students pass from year to year through the education system, math assignments build upon each other.

ESL / TOEFL iBT / IELTS Tutoring
This is for students who need to improve their English, the Milestone Institute offers six levels of ESL instruction.  Between the six levels, our outstanding ESL teaching staff can accommodate students of any ability level.

Each level of the course has been developed to provide a base for the next level. Our morning and evening classes teach all aspects of English, reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Exam Preparation
We teach both content skills and test taking strategies to improve your performance on test day. Milestone instructors are familiar with many—if not all—of the national and state level tests, and are here to teach these skills so that on test day our students begin with a plan, and finish with confidence.

Study Skills Program
At Milestone, we teach methods that prepare students to learn more effectively. These academic skills can be applied to any subject, improving our students’ ability to improve their performance.

Milestone instructors do not only demonstrate particular ways to complete just one or two assignments: we demonstrate the motivated approach to proactively completing class work and accomplishing academic success with an optimistic attitude.

After School Homework Club
At Milestone, we make homework work—our instructors ensure that students have a sufficient understanding of basic concepts to complete their assignments with confidence and skill. Students have the opportunity to ask questions about difficult problems and work through them in our classrooms, instead of waiting until the next day to ask their teachers.
