Summer fun with a French accent! Learn to speak French and enjoy the fun of an overnight summer camp on a private island. Find a little bit of France in the San Juan Islands at this Northwest Washington sleepover summer camp, one of the country's premier French camps. Campers, ages 9-16, take part in a unique mix of French language and culture through artistic and outdoor activities.

Ages 9-16
Storm the barricades (with water balloons), sing La Marseillaise, and become Louis XVI or Marie Antoinette. Or be a peasant and find out how the American Revolution helped spur their uprising and search for the royalty as they hide on the island. Celebrate North American holidays: march in the Friday Harbor July 4th Parade and celebrate Canada Day July 1.

Session 2 -Les Voyageurs
Ages 10-16
Form your own colony, make fire with flint and steel, and venture to neighboring islands as you explore the traditions and travels of the French Voyageurs and Native Americans. Share gifts in a potlatch, shoot bows and arrows, do traditional arts and crafts, and cook outdoors. Take an off-island trip by kayak, canoe, sailboat, or bike. Celebrate Bastille Day, July 14. Fencing, theater, sports, and outdoor sports are all a part of this session.

Session 3 - Le Monde Francophone
Ages 10-16
Polynesia, Africa, the Caribbean, North AmImage of Residential French Summer Camps in Washington Stateerica, and Asia: explore other countries where French is spoken. Participate in Olympics in your favorite sport, present your region in a World’s Fair of native foods, crafts, clothing, sports. Listen to Cajun music, try Vietnamese food, and paint your face like those in Vanuato. Canoe across the channel to Shaw Island for an afternoon of beach play.

Session 4 - Les Chevaliers
Ages 9-16
Celebrate chivalry, knights, kings, queens, and dragons from Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde to the Middle Ages. Learn to fence, become Lancelot or Guinevere in theatrical productions, and practice archery and traditional arts and crafts. Go on a quest with your team across the island to find your reward. Use a trébuchet, put on a puppet show, share your special talent during the Spectacle de Jacques Martin, and try traditional sports.

Catlin Gabel School is located in the south-west of downtown Portland in Multnomah County, adjacent to St. Vincent's Hospital on south-west Barnes Road. Catlin Gabel offers summer programs ranging from arts and music, modern languages, writing, SAT prep, outdoor education, service and more. Our summer programs are open to all preschool through 12th grade students, not just those who are enrolled at Catlin Gabel.

Most of our summer programs are one-week courses, with the exception of our Summer Beehive program for children entering preschool through 2nd grade, allowing you to select times that work best with your summer plans. The Northwest School, Seattle

Situated in the heart of Seattle, Washington, The Northwest School is an independent college preparation and international boarding school for Grades 6-12. We provide a welcoming and engaging English language (ESL) summer programs for students ages 10-16. Our English summer classes are specifically designed for ELL (English Language Learning) students who wish to improve their English language skills in a fun and relaxed environment. Youth Empowered Action
Courses / Programs
Youth Empowered Action (YEA) Camp is a unique and inspiring residential summer leadership program in Oregon, Massachusetts and California for youth 12-17 years who want to make a difference in the world. There will be two sessions in Oregon at Camp Adams in Molalla, Clackamas County. In Massachusetts, YEA Camp will be held at the beautiful Hilltop space of Nature's Classroom in Charlton, Worcester County. Our northern California camp will be held at the beautiful Quaker Center in Ben Lomond, Santa Cruz County, about a two hours drive south of San Francisco.

At a week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp setting, YEA campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, or animal rights) and they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue once they get home.
