Italian Education School, Rome:
The School of Italian, part of the IDEA IES s.r.l. group, offers Italian courses to students from around the world. The school was born out of the passion and many years of experience of our highly qualified language professionals. Our dedication to quality of teaching has allowed the school to become today a center of learning excellence where, through our unique and highly effective methodology, the maximum attention remains squarely focused on the specific learning needs of each individual student: experience, passion and quality – with the student always at the center. Our unique teaching methodology, a professional and attentive staff, highly qualified teachers and our constant focus on quality are the guarantee of success for our students.
Based on the firm belief that language is a living instrument whose aim is primarily for practical, everyday use, the methodology used is based mostly – but not exclusively – on a communicative approach.
This approach involves, on the part of the teacher, re-creating in class the same social and language setting of everyday life in the most natural and realistic way possible, while, on the part of the student, actively participating in the lesson. In this way the student listens to realistic dialogues, re-creates real-life scenarios, participates in lessons “on-the-road” – all in a dynamic, stimulating and mutually enriching environment.
With this approach the emphasis on communication comes in no way at the expense of a solid and equally important grammatical preparation – on the contrary – grammar by itself, however, is not sufficient for achieving fluency in a language. With our method the effective understanding and use of grammar follows as a natural consequence of continuous practical use of the language during the lesson.
The teaching staff at IDEA ITALIA all hold degrees in Humanistic Studies and have completed specialized training in Teaching Italian as a Second Language (L2). Our teachers are highly motivated and prepared, constantly updating their skills through continued training and are experts in our methodology and teaching tools. Their principal task is that of understanding the individual needs, expectations and any difficulties that our students might have in order to facilitate a more productive, relaxed and (why not?) fun communication during the lesson.
Based on our experience and a continual analysis of our students’ learning requirements, the school has created specific courses targeted for the diverse learning objectives of our many students, be they children, adolescents, students, adults or professionals from both the public and private sectors.
Our Italian language courses are held continuously throughout the year and are frequented by students from many different nationalities and language backgrounds.
The courses are divided into:
Individual, Semi-Individual (2-3 students) and Group (Standard intensive and extensive) Courses:
Every student learns best at their own pace and in their own particular way, and for this reason every course – be it individual or group – is structured primarily around the needs of our students, adapting itself as much as possible to the specific requirements of each individual person.
We offer:
- Italian language lessons: individual and semi-individual
- Italian language courses for small groups
- Standard intensive and extensive Italian programs
- Italian lessons "on the road"
There is a course for every proficiency level (A1-A2-B1-B2-C1-C2).
Prior to the first lesson every student is asked to take a brief test (oral and written) for placement at the appropriate level of proficiency. The learning path of all of our courses are based on the levels outlined in the CEF (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Learning materials are selected based on the specific requirements of our students. The first task of our teachers, in fact, is to personally assess the proficiency level and special needs of each person upon their arrival the first day, in order to tailor the course to their particular requirements. Learning materials are generally multimedia, and might include one or more DVDs, CD-ROMs, movies, songs, literary texts and periodicals, to name a few. Typical textbooks include Espresso, Affresco Italiano, Progetto Italiano, Un Tuffo/Viaggio nell’azzurro, in addition to any material selected by our teachers with the prior approval of the Director of Studies
