Doshisha University, Kyoto:
Established in 1875, Doshisha University is one of Japan's most prestigious private universities at the forefront of cutting-edge education in Japan. Doshisha Business School (DBS) opened in 2004, following a long tradition of successful Kyoto-based global corporations such as Omron, Kyocera, Shimadzu, and Nintendo. Our English-language Global MBA was inaugurated alongside the school’s Japanese MBA in 2009, and following five successful years was strengthened as a independent Global MBA (Global Business and Management Studies) program in 2014 with a bolstered dedicated faculty and expanded course offering.

Photo of International MBA Programs in Kyoto, JapanDBS offers a two-year, full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program called Global and Business Management Studies (Global MBA). All classes are offered in English. Our curriculum covers standard MBA core subjects such as Accounting, Marketing, Business Economics, and Strategic Management with the addition of our three special focus areas of Sustainability and Green Business, Culture and Creativity, and Business in Asia. Students with an appropriate level of Japanese may also take classes offered on the Japanese MBA program.

All of our students are also welcome to take Japanese language and culture courses for free at the University Center for Japanese Language and Culture (CJLC).

Doshisha Business School aspires to become a global center of excellence for business education and research. Engaging with major institutions in Japan and abroad, we seek to contribute to the socioeconomic development of Asia in the 21st century.

The Doshisha Global MBA program offers a unique experiential MBA to students willing to work in partnership with professors and local and multinational business leaders when exploring - and challenging - traditions and trends in global business and management.

Our Faculty:

The faculty plays an important role in the DBS experience. They are here to assist in bringing out the best of our students' business skills. Academics with worldwide teaching experience and practitioners with world class business careers combine to create a diverse teaching body.

Class sizes are small, and the learning process is based on two-way discussions centered around on original case studies. Students are also encouraged to pursue their own specialized topics. In turn, the faculty will provide rigorous feedback and support. The creative interaction between students and faculty generates the creative force at DBS.

The Business School is located just across the street from the main university campus in a building which combines state of the art facilities with architectural elegance in the original Doshisha style.In addition to classrooms, the learning environment includes  lounges, project rooms, and a library, all open to DBS students 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Graduate School of International Management (GSIM) was started in 1988, becoming the first US-style business school in Japan to offer a world-class MBA program taught in English and is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious business schools in Asia.

In April 2000, the Graduate School of Business Administration at Keio University in Tokyo became the first institute in Japan to receive certification from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (known as AACSB). Only 12 schools outside the United States have been granted such accreditation. All the classes of the MBA program are held in Japanese language.Students will have considerable number of discussions in class as well as reading and writing assignments. These are to be conducted in Japanese, therefore a good command of the language is indispensable for foreign students. Those who want to apply for the MBA Program must have a bachelor's degree, or be expected to obtain before the enrollment in the program. The time of enrollment is April only.
