Graduate School of Business Administration at Keio University:
In April 2000, the Graduate School of Business Administration at Keio University in Tokyo became the first institute in Japan to receive certification from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (known as AACSB). Only 12 schools outside the United States have been granted such accreditation. All the classes of the MBA program are held in Japanese language. The Ph.D. Program is designed to develop future academic leaders in professional management education and research. Throughout the program, students develop a powerful academic base in both major and minor fields of their choice. Our Ph.D. Program has been playing a pivotal role in developing superior management educators and researchers in Japan.
Students are required to declare their major and minor fields at the end of the first year, and begin to prepare the dissertation. Before starting the dissertation process, students should have already completed at least five doctoral courses, at least one case, case-study research paper, and passed the general exam in both major and minor fields. In order to provide MBA students with valuable experiences in highly international setting, Keio Business School established the International Program in 1988. This Program is a credit exchange system with partner institutions. Every year, Keio Business School accepts many international students in Fall term (September through December) when all courses are taught in Japanese, and in Winter term (January through March) when all courses are provided in English. Also, many second-year Keio students are regularly sent to partner schools during Fall term.
