At The Young Actor's Studio in Los Angeles, we offer acting lessons for children, teenagers and young adults. We offer a full conservatory day or a choice of classes for young actors in 3 age groups: 4-6, 7-12, 13 and up. Classes include comedy improvisation, acting for the camera, acting technique, theater production and scene study and originally commissioned plays. We also offer summer camps. Our faculty includes Jeff Alan Lee, a 20 year child acting teacher of such young actors as Scarlett Johansson and Shia LaBeouf.
The classes at our studio are centered around praising each student for who they are and teaching them to use their own behavior, personality, and charm in their roles. They learn to create a unique, original character that is truly their own. In our acting classes, we teach the student to trust themselves to live naturally and effortlessly on camera, or on stage. Through the Stanislavski system, the child, teen or young adult gains a strong confidence that can be applied to all areas of life. The young actor develops a love for the work, and with this, the ability to survive and work as an actor, if that becomes his or her choice.
The Discovery Center School (DCS) is an independent, co-educational school for students in Kindergarten through to 12th grade. We are located in Northern Park, San Francisco, and are proud to serve families in Northern Park, Central North, Anza Vista, Hayes Valley, Inner Richmond, Laurel Heights, Pacific Heights and surrounding communites throughout the Bay area. The student population richly reflects the diversity represented in the Bay Area with regard to socio-economic, religious and ethnic differences. We offer remedial classes as well.
For the past 36 years, The Discovery Center School has successfully provided a very supportive learning environment for the development of excellence in each of our young learners. The Frostig School offers a full range of academic and support services for students in Grades 1-12 who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities (LD) including dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia along with ADHD, ADD and Asperger’s. Situated in Pasadena, the school serves students in West Los Angeles, Pasadena and the San Fernando / San Gabriel Valley areas. Frostig School is dedicated to helping children with learning disabilities reach their full potential.
To ensure every child is learning to his/her fullest potential, we maintain a small classroom size of 12 students with a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio. All of our teachers are credentialed in special education. Frostig is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and certified by the California Department of Education. We have an open enrollment policy allowing students to be accepted throughout the school year.
Our curriculum is specifically designed to help students understand their own strengths and weaknesses enabling them to reach their highest potential. On average, most students attend our school for 3-4 years and then mainstream back to other schools.
