The King's School, Manila:
The King's School is a British Curriculum international school conveniently located only 15 minutes drive from downtown Makati and serving the expatriate community in Manila. The school is currently open for children aged 2 to 14 years and will expand over the next few years to include A-Levels and IB. We are dedicated to providing a British education in an international setting.
British Curriculum Education:
The King's School follows the English National Curriculum. it is a standardised curriculum that is followed by hundreds of British schools around the world. By choosing a British education for your son or daughter, you can ensure continuity in their education anywhere in the world.
Year groups are divided into three distinctive areas:
- Early Years: Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception (age 2-5)
- Primary: Years 1 to 6 (age 5-11)
- Secondary: Years 7 to 18 (age 11-18)
British qualified staff deliver the English National Curriculum supported in most instances by a qualified Teacher's Assistant. All children are taught in mixed ability classes, with children of the same age. Children may be taught English, Maths or other core subjects in smaller groups if we consider support is needed. Teaching and learning is enquiry based with an emphasis on problem solving and aims to build up pupils' abilities as learners. Work takes place both individually and in groups. Class sizes are generally small which allows for greater personal attention to each pupil's learning needs.
Chinese is also a major element of the curriculum at King's enabling pupils to learn one of the world's most important emerging languages. Music, sport, drama and educational trips together with a range of other activities form an integral part of a broad curriculum that aims to help students learn essential skills, discover a range of interests and develop the confidence to pursue new challenges.
Language Options:
We are very aware of the enormous opportunities that are available to us being based in Manila. We are at the heart of Asia, a rapidly transforming region with a growing influence on the world at large. We recognise that an understanding of Asian culture and a command of Mandarin will be invaluable assets for the future. Daily Mandarin lessons are complemented by a rich programme of activities, educational trips and whole school events that take place throughout the school year.
The school's Advanced Chinese Programme provides pupils who qualify with the opportunity to pursue Mandarin studies to a higher level and aim for a native level of spoken and written Mandarin.
In our secondary school, students will have the option of studying either Mandarin, or other foreign languages such as French and Spanish.
