Testimonials
“EBS offered me something that other universities did not – flexibility. With my busy lifestyle I need an MBA that adapts to my schedule and the EBS-MBA fits in perfectly. Thanks to this opportunity I can pursue my studies as and how I want.”
– Nadine Zahra, Training & Consultancy Unit, Bank of Valletta plc
“What convinced me to read for the Heriot-Watt MBA is the flexibility it provides to its students. This makes it possible to co-ordinate a heavy workload with an intense and rigorous study schedule. The way the course is structured allows one to focus on one’s career and yet also find time to balance out family life and study periods.
It is important to be well organised, disciplined and motivated to progress steadily throughout the course. One of the main benefits of the EBS MBA is the in-built philosophy of applied teaching – as all theory is made relevant to the realities of the business world. I can say, with confidence, that whatever one learns during the course is directly applicable to one’s job. There are also a sufficient variety of courses to allow one to tailor the MBA programme to one’s own career and functional specialisation.
The University’s online technology is first-class. The “faculty board” web link is very user-friendly and enables constant communication with tutors and colleagues. Self-assessment tests and course-related downloads keep one on track and serve as a constant guide as to progress made throughout the course. This ensures that one is never “alone” during the programme.
I find that Heriot-Watt’s MBA offers the best combination of flexibility, quality and value. The exams are tough but fair and all course aspects are well administered with the constant support of a friendly, efficient team at the Malta Institute of Management.”
– Albert Gouder, Marketing Manager, Go Mobile
“The MSc in Financial Management a course offered by the Edinburgh Business School, through the Malta Institute of Management is a course which is specifically targeted to professionals within the Finance industry ranging from Accountants to Bankers to Risk Managers. Subjects studied range from Derivatives to Accountancy to Credit Risk Management and other various topical subjects.
This distance learning course, comes with up to date course material and past papers. Students are provided with on-line facilities such as an Online Course Text, Self Assessments, Past Papers, and a Forum with the course tutor and other students.
The support provided by the Malta Institute of Management was another reason why I chose to take up this course. I strongly recommend this course for professionals who either want to further their career or want to keep abreast of developments within such a dynamic field.”
– Christian Camilleri, Manager Finance, Bank of Valletta plc
Advanced Diploma in International Taxation
The Diploma indicates a high level of competence in International Taxation and a successful candidate needs to be able to demonstrate knowledge in three areas.
- The principles of international taxation;
- In-depth knowledge of international tax issues for their primary jurisdiction;
- An awareness of basic tax issues, particularly in relation to international tax, in at least one secondary jurisdiction.
The Advanced Diploma in International Tax is quite unique course due to its flexibility and vast syllabus covering practically all aspects of international taxation. The diploma is spilt into three different modules, each one independent of the other, whilst also providing for the option to carry out a thesis and thus exempting one exam.
Testimonial
The advanced diploma in International Taxation is quite a unique course due to its flexibility and vast syllabus covering practically all aspects of international taxation. The diploma is split into three different modules, each one independent of the other, whilst also providing for the option to carry out a thesis and thus exempting one exam.
The first module, named “Principles of International Taxation”, in my opinion, is the area of greatest interest and also the toughest exam, since the information available is so vast. Thus a student will cover areas which will be of great help and use to him when applying such principles in practice, regarding International Taxation.
I was the first Maltese to sit for this exam in May 2005, winning also first prize for obtaining highest marks and was awarded a Gold medal, named after Ms Heather Self, one of the founders of the Diploma, in October 2005, during a ceremony organised by the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
Mentioning my medal, this is another aspect which makes the course interesting, whereby a student is awarded for his efforts since each exam has a prize winning medal and this gives the student an incentive to give his best when sitting for these exams.
My personal view is that the standard of the Diploma is very high. The level is one of the highest in relation to international taxation and I am sure that this course will continue to develop and become more popular amongst lawyers, accountants, auditors, tax consultants both locally and internationally.
