Global English Academy is an English as a Second Language (ESL) school located in Queens, New York City. If your goal is to improve your English in a vibrant, urban community and study with experienced professional teachers, then Global English Academy is the right choice for you. The mission of Global English Academy is to provide quality English language instruction to non-native speakers and to help them learn about and become more comfortable with American culture and customs.
Global English Academy is authorized under Federal Law to issue I-20s to students who would like to obtain an F-1 Visa to study in the United States. Our multi-lingual staff will help you through every step of this process. Once you obtain your visa and come to New York, you will study full-time (18 hours per week) in our Intensive Academic Program with our wonderful, professional teachers. All of our teachers have Master's degrees in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and are very dedicated to their teaching and their students. Once you move into our advanced level, our Student Services staff will help you through the complicated process of applying to college or graduate school if you decide to continue your studies in the United States.
If you want to learn to communicate in English well and to pursue further education in English, then our Intensive Academic Program is the right program for you. This program is open to students who are living and working in New York already and is required for all students who come to the United States on an F-1 Visa.
The Intensive Academic Program is an 18-hour per week program designed to help students build confidence and achieve fluency and accuracy in English in preparation for further study in undergraduate and graduate level programs in English or for professional use in the United States or abroad.
The Intensive Academic Program offers instruction in all skills in the form of two different integrated skills classes:
* Writing & Reading
* Grammar & Oral Skills
These classes are offered in four levels
* Beginner
* Intermediate
* High-Intermediate
* Advanced
Students can register for the morning, afternoon or evening program. Please note that each level takes two 9-week sessions to complete.
If you are already living and working in New York, but feel that your English is not as strong as you would like it to be, then our English for Everyone Program is the right program for you. The English for Everyone Program offers integrated skills classes in the Evenings and on Saturdays which incorporate grammar, writing, reading, vocabulary and oral skills in order to help students achieve fluency and accuracy in English for their social lives or for professional use in the United States or abroad. Students may choose to study either for 3 hours on Saturday Mornings or for 4 hours on weekday evenings.
English for Everyone classes are offered in four levels:
* Beginner
* Intermediate
* High-Intermediate
* Advanced
Please note that each level takes 2 sessions to complete.
If your English is already quite strong and you are getting ready to apply to college or graduate school, you will most likely have to take the TOEFL iBT. If you want to learn what to expect on the test and get instructor-led practice and help, then this is the program for you.
Our TOEFL iBT Preparation program introduces students to all of the components of the TOEFL iBT exam. Through practice exercises and exams in class, students will become familiar with the tasks required on the exam and will also learn test-taking strategies which will help them improve their scores on the exam. The program consists of 3 different classes which concentrate on different aspects of the TOEFL iBT.
TOEFL iBT Preparation classes meet on Saturday afternoons for 3 hours and are offered to students at the following levels:
* High-Intermediate
* Advanced
If you are planning to study in the U.S. in the future or looking for a way to spend a special summer this year, Global English Academy is offering a four-week July program that can help you learn English and have fun in New York at the same time.
The July Program consists of 18 hours of intensive English classes in the mornings plus two afternoons each week of sightseeing with our instructors. Some of the sightseeing tours will include visits to the campuses of well known universities in New York.
