Berkshire College is a co-educational boarding school for grades 9-12 in Sheffield, New Berkshire County in Western Massachusetts (New England). About Berkshire:
As part of the Berkshire Model, learning for the 21st century, we offer our students an advanced math/science research program, the Center for Sustainability with outdoor education, pro vita courses on topics of interest, and the Center for Writing and Critical Thinking.

Student Life:

In this small, tight-knit community it is not uncommon to find friends from all walks of life, from all grades, and from around the world. Days are full and busy: classes from 8 a.m. until 2:45 p.m., an athletic or art commitment in the afternoon, dinner, study hall and then, to bed!

But each day brings with it an extraordinary number of opportunities. The opportunity to take Chinese, to take photographs, to take a slap shot from the point. Quite simply, each day offers another safe chance to take a risk, to grow, and to learn -- and another opportunity to succeed.

The John Dewey Academy
Courses / Programs
Located in Great Barrington, in the Berkshires area of west Massechusetts, The John Dewey Academy is a year-round college preparatory therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens ages 15-21.

Serving Grades 10-12 and Postgraduate students, we provide an individualized and comprehensive education in a non-traditional therapeutic school setting. Our students are bright, troubled adolescents with a history of self-defeating or self-destructive choices.

At The John Dewey Academy, we take our identity as a college preparatory school seriously. With a highly credentialed staff of dedicated and passionate teachers, a small class size (six students on average), and high demands and expectations, we provide a challenging academic experience.

At The John Dewey Academy, adolescents encounter a peer-based community of empowerment, an exciting educational environment, the challenge of real responsibilities, and the realistic promise of acceptance at a college of quality. In such an environment, they can change.
Therapeutic Boarding School for Troubled Teens Ages 15-21 (Grades 10-12 & Postgrad)

- Our minimum length of stay is eighteen months, although most students take 2 to 2½ years to complete the program.

- Students carry a minimum of five courses a semester in the traditional divisions of English, History/Social Science, Math, Science, and Foreign Language.

- Highly credentialed staff of dedicated and passionate teachers, a small class size (six students on average)
Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)
Courses / Programs
Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18.

We welcome students from Massachusetts, across the U.S., and students from around the world (TWAI is authorized to issue 1-20's for international students).

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.

Situated in New Lebanon, a town in Columbia County NY, Darrow School is a co-educational college preparatory boarding & day school for students in Grades 9-12. We provide a challenging, hands-on college preparatory curriculum with a student/teacher ratio of 5:1.

At Darrow, we are dedicated to serving students with diverse backgrounds and abilities, building on each student’s individual talents and interests to inspire enduring confidence for success in college and life.

Founded in 1796, Oakwood Friends School is New York State's oldest co-educational boarding and day school. We are an independent college preparatory school serving Grades 6-12 located in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County in New York's historic Hudson River Valley.
