Ashcan Art Studio is a creative space for future professional artists, designers, illustrators, sculptors and those applying for art schools. With two locations in New York City (in Manhattan and Queens), Ashcan specializes in college portfolio preparation. Our main objective is to assist you, whether you are a high school student or a transfer student, gain entrance into the university art program or the private art school of your choice. We offer individualized classes for students to develop their visual arts portfolio to the highest standards. We conveniently offer day and evening classes, seven days a week, all year long.

- We have a 100% acceptance rate for our students, many of whom have been awarded scholarships to schools such as Parsons, Risd, SVA, Pratt, Cooper Union and more. We can teach the most inexperienced up through those advanced enough for graduate level courses.

- Ashcan Studio of Art focuses on the individual student with the goal of being accepted into a top visual art university. We offer students their own workspace and the attention of our dedicated faculty, all of whom have graduated with a BFA or MFA from top art schools and are professionals in their field. Students get the one on one attention needed to develop their ideas into quality works of art.

- Our academy will facilitate the entire application / admission process, including application, portfolio, essay and interview appointment. We will prepare students with mock interviews as well.

At the Ashcan Studio, we have basic, intermediate, and advanced portfolio preparation programs designed to complete 15 - 20 works of art for your portfolio, in 3months to a year. Shorter terms are also offered. We provide programs in the fields of art and design, visual arts, painting, drawing, sculpture, figure drawing, fashion design, multi-media, interior design, architecture and more.

With our constructive curriculum, you can effectively create a quality portfolio. The studio hours will vary depending on your level / skills. For beginners, we recommend a one-year program and a six-month program for intermediate level students who are able to render figure drawings. For advanced level students, 1 to 3 months is recommended to create a high quality portfolio for graduate school admissions.

Summer / Winter Break Program:
This intensive 6 week course for high school and college transfer students utilizes the period during the summer / winter break to accomplish 10 - 15 portfolio pieces.

Condensed Period Portfolio Preparation:
An intensive program to effeciently prepare college portfolio in a condensed period of time. Ashcan Studio specializes in this intensive program. The curriculum is designed to complete your portfolio in a short time period. In a 12 - 24 week period, 20 to 30 portfolio pieces are completed. Students are provided with individual work spaces and consultation determines the duration and intensity of course work.

Individually Tailored Curriculum:
With an initial consultation and assessment, we design your courses, so you will have completed a body of work and portfolio of excellence by the end of your program. Depending on personal needs, your program can be completed in a year or in a month of intensive study. Each student will have his / her own schedule.
