A college professor, New Jersey state-licensed CTE educator, audio technology expert, and working producer, Wilkis brings more than 26 years of experience in teaching, mentoring, administration, and the music industry.
His educational experience spans K–12, postsecondary, and college settings in both public and private education, serving suburban and urban communities. He also consults on Recording Arts programs and partners with The Hip-Hop Education Center.
Wilkis holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music and a Master’s degree in Education. His professional credentials include Avid Pro Tools Expert certification in Music and Logic Certified Pro status. At Itec Audio Studios, he connects education with real studio practice, teaching music production, recording, mixing, mastering, Pro Tools, Logic, and immersive audio workflows.

The Institute of Audio Research (IAR) is located in New York City, close to the vibrant Greenwich Village and Union Square. We provide a complete education in audio engineering and music production, combining a broad background with hands-on experience. Our audio engineering and music production diploma curriculum is crafted by faculty members who are deeply involved in music and audio. IAR’s rolling admissions places students in classes that begin throughout the year, so you don’t have to wait long to start training for your future. The program can be completed in approximately nine months by a full-time student and in approximately a year by a part-time student at night. We believe the key to a valuable education in music production is a command of the fundamental concepts of sound. We emphasize these principles with both digital and analog classroom and studio experience. New York City is the worldwide destination for music and audio professionals. Jersey City Art School at the Thomas John Carlson Art Studio in downtown Jersey City is a visual art school offering classes taught by local artists, weekly figure drawing sessions and lectures by artists showing locally. The Jersey City Art School was founded in November, 2009 by Thomas John Carlson. The first classes that were offered were: Introduction to Painting and Drawing and Introduction to Stained Glass. Following on from our initial success, we have extended our classes to include 8-week courses in drawing, painting, stained glass and figure sculpture.
