Music Production / Audio Engineering School in New York

Contact Our School

Audio Recording and Production School, New York City:
Located in New York City, where the music scene sizzles every day and night of the year. New York offers a never-ending current of nearly every genre of music. Catch Radiohead or Jay Z at Madison Square Garden, Interpol at the Hammerstein Ballroom, Bill Charlap or Cyrus Chestnut at Jazz Standard, The Roots at the Roxy, or Lauryn Hill at SOB’s.

Add the Apollo, Carnegie Hall, the Knitting Factory, the Bowery Ballroom and the bright lights of Broadway, and the Institute of Audio Research is in the middle of it all. It is no wonder that a multitude of music businesses make their home in New York. There is a continual demand for well-trained people to staff these facilities.

Located in one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods, IAR is just steps from major subway lines, easily accessible by public transportation from anywhere in the Tri-State Area. New York City is the place to be for audio engineering and music production, and IAR puts you in the center of the action.

Location and Facilities:

Student life at IAR extends far beyond the classroom. We think our community of students and faculty is the most exciting anywhere, and we make a point of enriching it in every way we can.

Student lounges provide space for studying and socializing with other students, whether in between classes or before you’re ready to go home. Many of our students wind up working with each other, based on friendships formed during “down time” at IAR.

One of the best aspects of life at IAR is right outside our door: vibrant Greenwich Village and Union Square. Live music, great food, and a vibrant cultural scene are always just steps away. It’s the best location in the best city for learning about audio engineering and music production.

Our faculty has put together a library for students who want to check up on something they learned, or just want to learn about something new. Our library contains books, periodicals and other materials on recording, audio and computer technology, sound reinforcement, the music business, music theory, and production.

Although IAR does not maintain dormitories, we can assist in directing students to suitable housing facilities.
