The toddler classroom provides a developmentally appropriate learning environment where children are free to explore and grow cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally. The toddler environment is set up to nurture a child’s inherent curiosity by enabling children to explore and discover.

The toddler program focuses on fostering each child’s self-confidence and good self-image. The program also focuses on each child’s social skills and also to instill in them a positive attitude toward learning. The Toddler program is broken up into several areas.

Primary (3 – 6 years):

The primary classrooms are designed to allow the children independence to move, touch, manipulate and explore. The Montessori certified teachers/guides understand that the child’s “absorbent mind” is at its peak during their primary years.

The environment gives the children the freedom to choose their own activities with guidance from the teacher/guide. This environment encourages the children to develop independence, which causes them to use their own initiative, building self-discipline and concentration. Throughout the day, students will receive individual lessons in language, mathematics, geography, and the cultural areas. The classroom furniture, shelving, and materials are designed with the child’s size in mind.

The use of the concrete materials to learn abstract concepts and operations is fundamental to the Montessori teaching method. In the primary classroom, materials play a significant role in the learning process. Some materials are solid geometric forms, knobbed puzzle maps, colored beads, metal insets, and various specialized rods and blocks. The materials are designed to assist the children in understanding concepts presented.

Elementary Program:
Our elementary program is designed to meet the needs of each individual child. As the child passes from the primary classroom to the elementary classroom, they become more social Image of Private School in Brownsville, TXbeings.

The Montessori curriculum includes; math, reading, literature, grammar, geography, history, science and writing. The second component is the daily review of basic skills.

The Montessori classroom enables these new stages of development in the child to flourish. The Montessori child is given more responsibility for their learning. They learn to manage their time, meet deadlines and work in a free non-threatening environment. The guide is there to assist and provide the experiences needed to enhance the child’s learning.
