Day & Boarding School Programs for Boys & Girls Ages 3-13:

Nursery:

The nursery at Moreton Hall facilitates children from 2 yrs, 8 months to 4 yrs of age.
We offer a gentle but structured approach to school life within our kindergarten facility. Our children follow a specially designed educational programme that covers the six areas of learning outlined in the Early Years Foundation curriculum: personal, social and emotional development, communication, language and literacy, mathematical development, knowledge and understanding of the world, creative development and physical development.

Pre-Prep:

In this department the curriculum is structured into a four-year course which provides a sound basis for the next stage of schooling. The emphasis is on reading, writing and mathematics; however, to make schoolwork interesting, stimulating, and enjoyable, the syllabus also includes a wide range of other subjects designed to widen horizons and develop imaginations. The individual needs of this age group are fully recognised. The children enjoy the comprehensive facilities of the main school and the skills of specialist staff, but the pre-prep has its own separate classroom block, teachers, play-area and auxiliary helpers.

Prep:
The Prep School is formed of Years 3 through to 8 (and we call them Transition, then Forms 4,5,6,7 and 8). Transition and Form 4 still follow a class teacher model, with one teacher delivering the lion's share of the lessons. Whilst this consistency is maintained, the children also start to meet specialist staff as part of their routine. From Form 5 the focus shifts wholeheartedly to a subject taught model, with the boys and girls now receiving their lessons from a full spread of our staff in a sensibly paced run-up towards their entrance examinations at the end of Form 8.

Class sizes span between 10 and 14, ensuring that the understanding between pupil and teacher is as meaningful as possible. Each form also has its own form tutor who, as well as delivering some of that form's lessons, spends dedicated time in the course of each day with their children. Homework is done at school after lessons and is helped along again by the tutor.

Boarding:
We have a well-established boarding facility for boys and girls. We also offer an overseas boarding programme for our overseas students. Boarding may be ‘full', “weekly” or on a “flexible” nightly basis. This flexibility makes for a vibrant and exciting boarding community and provides peace of mind for many working parents. The majority of older pupils at Moreton Hall choose to board in preparation for their move to public school.
