Rochester Independent College, in the County of Kent, just east of London, offers a distinctive alternative to a conventional sixth form and a stepping stone between school and university.

Established in 1984, we accept day students from the age of 11. Boarding is available for A-level students and Year 11 students on GCSE courses who are aged 16 or older. 

Students come to us from all over the UK and the world, as well as the local area. There are no bells ringing, no uniforms and everybody is on first name terms. The College has an atmosphere closer to university than school where students are treated as young adults.

About 65 of the College's 280 students are boarders. Our Halls combine the informality of a university residence with the supervision and pastoral support appropriate for young adults.

The College offers students the opportunity to thrive in an atmosphere of managed independence and acts as a stepping stone between school and university.

Our focus is on examination success in a lively, supportive and informal atmosphere. Students are encouraged to be themselves and achieve exam results that often exceed their expectations. Rochester Independent College is accredited by the ISC (Independent Schools Council).

Children can enter Taunton Nursery School from after birth, most usually following maternity leave to suit parental needs and can join at any point during the year, depending on availability of places.

Children progress through three stages of Tounton Nursery School from ages 0-4. From here, they will move up into the first year of the Pre-Prep in the September following their fourth birthday. Alternatively they can join at an stage in the Pre-Prep Department.
