The Marlow Language Centre is a family run language school and a specialist translation company that has been established in Marlow in Buckinghamshire, southern England for 20 years. We are only 45 minutes west of London. The Centre was founded in 1988 by Jeanne Thibaud-Eeles. We serve students in Maidenhead, Bourne End, Cookham, Reading, Slough, Henley-on-Thames, Beaconsfield, High Wycombe, Bracknell, Windsor, Wokingham, Gerrards Cross, Langley, Colnbrook and Heathrow and throughout the Thames Valley. We offer intensive and non-intensive courses in English and over 50 foreign languages. With us you can learn a language fast! Courses are available to students on both a group basis and 1 to 1 tuition allowing for rapid results. All the 1 to 1 courses are tailor-made so whether students wish to learn for business or pleasure, relocation purposes or simply want to learn for fun, the course is designed to their specific work or pleasure requirements.

For anyone already living in the UK, who wishes to improve their English to enable themselves to communicate more effectively, to gain an academic qualification or simply for pleasure, we also have a range of intensive or non-intensive courses for you.

The Marlow Language Centre is a family run English and foreign language school. The goal of the teaching staff is to give structured and proffessional language lessons in a friendly environment.

Our 20 years' experience has shown us that anyone with the will to learn can master a language. This graph shows the average rate of progress for students studying a language on a Private 1-to-1 basis at the Centre. Rates of progress may vary depending on the type of course (Group, Tutorial, Private) and each student’s previous linguistic knowledge.

In our experience, we recommend a minimum of 24 hours for each student in order to make positive progress. For example if you are a complete beginner, after 24 hours you will be able to:

* introduce yourself
* use pleasantries
* make and understand basic conversation
* use the present tense
* have a base of vocabulary from which to improve
* perform basic touristic tasks

The Centre has a large team of native speakers who are qualified teachers. The majority of the tuition is conducted on a 1 to 1 basis giving students great flexibility as they can decide when they want to come for lessons and have the option of anything from 1 to 7 hours tuition per day. As most courses are run on a 1 to 1 basis lessons are tailored to the exact needs of the student.

All the teachers are qualified native speakers whose main aim is for their students to make the best possible progress whilst ensuring that the learning process is fun.

All our families are within walking distance of the school, so you don’t have to waste time or money travelling to the school.
The majority of our HOMESTAY families’ homes are within a 10-15 minute walking distance of the school and are equipped with a private bathroom for your exclusive use.

Our HOMESTAY families have been chosen because they provide a clean, comfortable and friendly environment in which to study English. Our families enjoy having students to stay and will help you practise your English over an evening meal and outside the classroom, which is an essential part of the learning experience.

Marlow is a traditional English town with a population of around 17,500 people, where you will find yourself completely surrounded by English people and the English Language in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Although only 1 hour from London, Marlow is a picturesque town on the banks of the river Thames.

Not only is it one of the most beautiful towns in the south of England, parts of it also date back to the 14th Century. There are many historic sites, as well as a vibrant high street, full of pubs, cafes and restaurants. Marlow was home to many famous poets including John Keats, P.B. Shelley and T.S. Eliot. Most people have heard of Frankenstein, one of the greatest horror stories ever written, but probably do not know that the story itself was written in Marlow by Shelley’s wife, Mary.

Marlow is 45 mins west of London, 20 minutes from London Heathrow, and close to Windsor, Oxford and Henley-On thames. With excellent transport links to all these areas.
