Glasgow International School of English Language:
Glasgow International School of English Language is an English language school located in Glasgow, West Central Scotland. We offer a range of English courses including General English, Business English, Academic English and preparation for the Cambridge FCE, CAE and IELTS exams. Private English lessons and evening classes are also available.

Our English courses / programs include:

General English:
General English is a part-time programme that runs all year and can be taken as a day or evening class. The course has a strong focus on practical English language skills required by students and people whose first language is not English and is ideal for students looking to improve their all-round communication skills. For long-term students and EU residents in Scotland, we provide cultural advice on life in the U.K., help with day-to-day issues such as banking, accommodation or registering with a doctor.

This course covers five levels from beginner to advanced and includes regular opportunities to progress through these levels. There are 7.5 hours of classes each week, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Business English Course:
Business English is much more than simply learning some industry-specific vocabulary, it is about learning transferable skills, adapting to new working environments, working across language and cultural barriers. This part-time course offers students who are intending to work in the UK or abroad the language and communications skills required to achieve success in their current and future professional life.

The course focuses on transferable communication skills which are relevant to learners from a range of business backgrounds such as management, finance, manufacturing, sales and marketing, tourism and hospitality, etc. The core skills areas are meetings, negotiations, presentations, telephoning, report writing and email. The course also covers a range of topics appropriate to international business such as cross-cultural relations, human resources, globalisation, IT, web2.0, developing markets, recession & growth, etc.

Academic English Course:
The course is intensive, designed to assist students at postgraduate and undergraduate level with focus on transferrable academic skills relevant to students of business, science and humanities. Please note this course is only open to students who are at advanced level or above. We recommend you attend the First Certificate in English preparation course until you reach the required level.

Our teachers use textbooks, audio, video, academic journals and online resources specific to areas of academic interest ranging from science to the arts.

All students will be assessed using an English language test developed by our teachers to allow us to grade your level of English language at the start of the course. Students must be 18 years old.

IELTS Exam Preparation Course:
This is a part-time course which includes language skills and exam techniques to prepare students for the IELTS exam. Classes are run in the afternoon with lessons from Monday to Thursday, totalling 10 hours per week. Each class focuses on different areas (listening, speaking, reading & writing) and incldues examination techniques. You will also be expected to complete homework tasks and study outside the class; advise and guidance on self study will be provided. All teachers of this course are TEFL certified and experienced in teaching English for higher education purposes and IELTS Preparation.

First Certificate in English (FCE) Preparation:
This is a full-time intensive programme that runs all year. The Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) exam is one of the best known and most respected formal qualifications in English. Cambridge exams are recognised by commercial and academic institutions worldwide.

This course is specifically designed to prepare you thoroughly for the Cambridge First Certificate in English examination.

The course has a strong focus on practical English language skills required by non-English language visitors to the U.K. and is ideal for students looking to improve their all-round communication skills with a view to further education.

Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) Preparation:
This is a full-time intensive programme that runs all year. The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) exam is one of the best known and most respected formal qualifications in English. Cambridge exams are recognised by commercial and academic institutions worldwide.

This course is specifically designed to prepare you thoroughly for the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English exam.

The Certificate in Advanced English course is taught by General Teacher Council (GTC) registered and experienced UK secondary school teachers. The syllabus has been specially designed to maximise your exam success and covers all papers of the CAE exam.

Evening Classes:
Our evening classes are run all year round (with the exception of 2 weeks in December). We offer a range of flexible programmes to suit students with varying levels of English language ability, from General English (Beginner) to IELTS examination preparation. Classes are run in the evening from 6pm - 7.30pm with lessons from Monday to Thursday totalling 6 hours per week.

All evening classes are intensive courses designed to fit student requirements. Course bookings must be made in blocks of 4 weeks.
