English Teacher In London:
Do you want to improve your English language skills? I can help you with online or face to face lessons. For many people living in this great city improving their English is a key part of their own personal development. Of course, there are many good language schools in London and Bournemouth. Some find, however, that learning in classrooms of 10 or 12 other learners is not ideal and attending a school everyday doesn’t fit in with their busy schedules. That’s why learners often prefer to work with a private teacher. I am a fully qualified native English language teacher who has helped many people improve their English language skills from undergraduates to senior business executives. Whether it is for an exam, your career or social situations you can develop your abilities quickly with my help. If you are not able to have your lesson at home or at work we can meet in central London, near Canary Wharf Station, in Greenwich or other locations.
As children we acquire our first language without any apparent effort. We listen, we speak then we read and finally we write. Nobody corrects us if we make a mistake during those early years and we never need to open a grammar book, yet we all develop an ability to use our first language.
If only learning additional languages was so easy. It takes a lot of hard work and some find it too much. My method seeks to replicate the natural learning cycle - listen-speak-read-write. It also puts the emphasis on your ability to use the language with confidence rather that weighing you down with grammar rules that mystify the learning process.
I ask my students to commit to six hours learning per week, two hours with me, two hours of practice on their own and two hours of passive exposure to the language. During our time together we will use my specially designed materials to encourage you to use key language points, you will consolidate this during the practise exercises you can complete on your own. Your passive exposure would consist of a movie or some radio. You can review this and tell me about it at our meeting. I will also review your practise exercises and give you feedback.
I use all my own materials, personally written and based on what I know works. I also use the full range of audio-visual possibilities that today’s technology offers us. I have special material for those who want to focus on their writing skills as well as those who are studying for an exam like IELTS or FCE.
Each time we meet we will cover one main language point such as a tense and a series of other points that will help you learn new natural English. We will use audio visual material to increase the impact and the your ability to retain it. Each time we will also spend some time on those important but difficult parts of the English language like prepositions and phrasal verbs.
You will be given the audio visual material to look at during the week. This could be a DVD or some audio. Also you will be given the password to download the exercises that practice the language learned at our most recent meeting. Once you have viewed the material and completed the exercises you are ready for the next meeting.
Face to Face and Online English courses; General English, Intensive English; Business English; IELTS; Cambridge Exams; Writing; Pronunciation and Accent Reduction; Group Lessons; Individual English Tuition. Your choice of location, at home, in your office or a quiet place in the city centre or suburbs.
If you are not able to have your lesson at home or at work then I have found a couple of really good venues.
For those of you in central London why not take a 20 minute trip from Charring Cross to Greenwich and have your lesson in the tranquil, leafy surroundings of the Richard III Arms rear garden. I have held countless successful lessons here during the Spring and Summer. It is just 5 minutes walk from the station. You can also get there on the DLR.
If you are near the Jubilee Line or on the DLR you may prefer to meet at the Ledger Building at West India Quay a few minutes walk from Canary Wharf Station and the DLR. Here too you can enjoy a combination of low priced tea or coffee and quiet surroundings; can meet me indoor or out so whatever the weather the lesson will not be interupted.
