Dulwich Montessori Nursery School, London:
Dulwich Montessori Nursery School is situated in a beautiful and light Church Hall in Dulwich, in the London Borough of Southwark in south London, approx. 5 miles and a twenty minute drive to the city centre. We provide fulltime and parttime nursery and preschool programs for young children throughout the Dulwich, Tulse Hill, Streatham Hill, Balham, Norwood, Herne Hill and surrounding communities. The main purpose for establishing Dulwich Montessori Nursery School more than a decade ago continues today. The learning materials at Dulwich Montessori Nursery School have been designed to provide a wide variety of learning experiences geared towards the developmental needs of young children. Each activity involves experiencing with unique materials proven to be intensely fascinating for the young child. When engaged in well structured tasks, our students experience inner satisfaction leaving them with a positive attitude towards everything connected with school.

Goals:

Therefore, the specific goals for the students who attend Dulwich Montessori Nursery School are as follows:

1. Develop a positive attitude towards school in each student:
Most of the learning activities are individualized. For example, each student engages in a learning task which has particular appeal to him/her. The activities are geared to the child’s needs and level of readiness. Consequently, the child works at his/her own rate, repeating the task as often as he/she likes, thus experiencing a series of successful achievements. In this manner, the child builds up a positive attitude towards learning.

2. Helping each student develop self confidence as an independent learner:
Many junior and senior school students have difficulty in school because they do not have confidence in themselves. Our school tasks are designed so that each new step is built on what the student has already mastered, thus removing the negative experience of frequent failure. Success after success builds up an inner confidence in the children, assuring them that they can learn by themselves. These confidence-building activities likewise contribute to the student’s emotional development.

3. Assisting each student in building a habit of concentration:
Effective learning presupposes the ability to listen carefully and to attend to what is said or demonstrated. Through a series of absorbing experiences the student forms habits of extended attention, thus increasing the ability to concentrate.

4. Fostering an abiding curiosity in each student:
In a rapidly changing society, all of us are students our entire lives. A deep, persistent and abiding curiosity is a prerequisite for creative learning. By providing students with opportunities to discover qualities, dimensions, and relationships amidst a rich variety of stimulating learning situations, the natural desire to comprehend is developed into a habit of curiosity.

Programmes:

Nursery and Preschool programmes for 2 to 5 year olds; Morning sessions; Afternoon sessions. Activities include storytime, art and craft, creativity, music and movement as well as French lessons. Dulwich Montessori Nursery School is now open from 8-30 am to 3 pm Monday to Thursday and 8-30 am to 1 pm on Friday.

Facilities:

There is a large classroom, kitchen, toilets and a nappy changing area within the building, which are all beautifully decorated with colorful themes.

Equipment:

A large inventory of Montessori learning equipment is maintained in storage cupboards within the classrooms, and books, toys and art & craft materials are all available for the wide and varied curriculum of Dulwich Montessori Nursery School.

Located in Taunton, Somerset, in the South West of England, Taunton School is a private, independent boarding and day school for boys and girls ages 0-7 that incorporates a nursery school & pre-preparatory school. Children can enter Taunton Nursery School from after birth, most usually following maternity leave to suit parental needs and can join at any point during the year, depending on availability of places.
