Why Choose Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School?

- History and Heritage
Founded in 1509, Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School has now been educating the young people of Lancashire for more than five centuries. Queen Elizabeth’s is an ideal setting for boys and girls to learn and offers them a good preparation for university, and for life.

- Beyond the National Curriculum
The broad academic curriculum offered at QEGS goes well beyond the National Curriculum by which, as an independent school, we are not restricted. While we place a particular emphasis on English and Mathematics, we also believe in the virtue of rigorous science courses which, along with the study of at least one Modern Language up to GCSE, remain compulsory elements of our curriculum.

- Outside the Classroom
Our pupils are encouraged to represent the school in the community in a variety of ways and QEGS also offers a wealth of opportunities for boys and girls to pursue their interests and develop their individual skills, whether they be sporting or cultural.

- Top-Class Facilities
Schools are, first and foremost, about people. At Queen Elizabeth’s, pupils also benefit from excellent facilities, which we continue to improve so that they provide a pleasant and effective environment for learning, sport and recreation.

Our Ethos:

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School is a community of learning and teaching which encourages all pupils to fulfil their potential. We seek to instil a desire to pursue excellence in all we undertake. In 2001, the school moved to a fully co-educational entry, partly in response to parents’ requests but also in the firm belief that co-education is the best preparation for the world beyond school. Since this transition we can demonstrate from the examination results obtained, and huge contribution to life at our school that both boys and girls do extremely well at Queen Elizabeths.
