University Of Florida English Language Institute:
The University of Florida is located in Gainesville, a small city in north central Florida, ninety minutes from Jacksonville and Orlando, major cities with international airports. Our Cultural Immersion Program (CIP) combines formal, scheduled classes with informal activities offered weekdays (shopping, coffee talk, art, yoga, sports, dance, and Farmer's Market) and weekends (weekend trips and activities, picnics, sightseeing, festivals, community participation and volunteering). Assistance in arranging housing, health insurance.
The mission of the English Language Institute (ELI) is to foster the learning of the English language and the culture of the United States of America through its regularly scheduled intensive English program and its various other programs scheduled on demand.
The ELI is a self-supporting program of the University of Florida. It is intended to serve speakers of other languages and is dedicated to offering superior instruction and best possible occasions for practice, using current materials and techniques, and providing an ideal learning environment.
These goals are accomplished by a well-trained staff enthusiastically committed to the success of all learners, actively involved in meeting their needs, and unquestionably focused on functioning as a team for the greater good of all concerned.
What will I do during the first week orientation?
Check-in week is a busy time. You will attend a check-in session to sign enrollment documents, and both Cultural and Academic Orientations. You will receive information about the UF campus and life in Gainesville, insurance and health issues, transportation, shopping and entertainment. You will also take a placement exam and receive your class schedule.
English Language Programs:
Reading/Writing (5-7 levels), Listening/Speaking (5-7 levels), Grammar (5-7 levels), Pronunciation, Advanced Vocabulary for GRE / TOEFL Test, Oral Presentation Skills for Professionals, one-on-one conversation partners, combined intensive English & IT program, TEFL.

Gainesville, FL is a 2-hour drive from Disney World, Busch Gardens, Daytona Beach, historic St. Augustine, and more. Gainesville, together with the university, provides all the services of a major city.
