4 week full time intensive courses offered all year round. The CELTA course provides initial training for English language teachers. It is intended for those without previous experience who wish to enter the profession and for teachers with no previous training in this field.

The course consists of a minimum of 120 contact hours and an additional 80 hours for home study. Candidates are involved in sixty hours of practice teaching which includes planning, implementation, observation of peers and experienced teachers, reflection on their teaching practice and feedback from trainers.

Our Adelaide campus is situated in the cultural heart of the city, only a 5 minute walk to the mall, shops, restaurants, cafes, public transport and beautiful parklands. It is within easy walking distance to public transport, universities, art centres, the State Library as well as shopping malls, cafes, banks and cinemas. Nearby parklands and gardens are an attractive setting for College sport and picnics.

The Adelaide teacher training centre is located in a recently renovated heritage building that was built in the 1920's. Students can enjoy excellent facilities at the centre. The campus features 16 spacious classrooms, a large computer centre, student common room and kitchen, and a student self access centre. The spacious air conditioned classrooms and excellent facilities will enhance your learning experience.

It was a very intensive and demanding course but the course trainers were able to offer as much support as required with their wealth of knowledge and experience.

The course requires a lot of commitment, initiative and ‘thinking on your feet’ but the feeling that you get afterwards is extremely worthwhile. For me, the highlights of the course were being ‘thrown into the deep end’ and teaching English learners during the course and also analysing teaching.

After my successful completion of the course I was lucky enough to secure almost immediate employment at a local college.  Not to mention that I have not yet even explored the plethora of teaching options that are available to me in many countries overseas.

Looking back now, after a year of full-time teaching, I feel that undertaking the CELTA was definitely one of the most rewarding decisions of my life, both professionally and personally. Completing the CELTA has provided me with the opportunity to work and interact with people from all over the world on a daily basis. 

It also provided me with a strong foundation on which I could develop and grow as an English language teacher.  Without the course I very much doubt that I would have been able to expand and refine my English teaching skills as quickly as I have.
