RMIT English Worldwide (REW) is a specialist English language teacher training centre in Melbourne, Victoria in south-east Australia, offering a range of high quality teacher training programs. We offer both full-time and part-time CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) courses. The CELTA is widely-recognised as a pre-service qualification for teachers of English in Australia and overseas. It is administered by the University of Cambridge and delivered world-wide.
Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
RMIT English Worldwide offers full-time CELTA courses (5 weeks intensive) and part-time CELTA courses (2 evenings per week for 15 weeks). RMIT English Worldwide is a specialist teacher training centre, offering a range of high quality teacher training programs. Programs are offered at the REW Melbourne Centre and offshore and can be customised.
The CELTA is a widely recognised pre-service qualification administered by the University of Cambridge and delivered world-wide. It is recognised as a pre-service qualification for teachers of English in Australia and overseas.
The primary aim of the course is to develop communicative teaching and classroom management skills for people with little or no previous experience of English language teaching. The course also aims to develop candidates' language awareness and to familiarise them with approaches and materials for developing proficiency in adult learners of English.
CELTA Course Structure:
The CELTA course includes: 9 teaching practice lessons (total 6 hours); 4 written assignments; and 2 one-on-one progress check meetings with tutor. Courses operate with 18 trainees divided into 3 groups of 6 trainees during teaching practice. Trainees give their teaching practice lessons to real international students at two different levels of proficiency.
CELTA Course Content:
Unit 1. Learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context
Unit 2. Language analysis and awareness
Unit 3. Language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing
Unit 4. Planning and resources for different teaching contexts
Unit 5. Developing teaching skills and professionalism
