British Council, Amman:
Conveniently situated in Amman, The British Council offers the University of Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) to students from Jordan and around the world. This is a 4-week TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course that leads to an initial English language teacher qualification. It is designed for students with little or no previous teaching experience, and is also suitable for those who have some teaching experience but have never received formal training. 4-week CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) Course
Course Curriculum:
The course is very intensive and you should be prepared to spend a good deal of your free time reading, planning lessons and writing assignments.
- Language analysis and language awareness
- Learners and teachers and the teaching and learning context
- Language Skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking & Writing
- Planning and resources for different teaching contexts
- Developing teaching skills and professionalism
- Observed teaching practice (6 hours)
You will attend input sessions; plan and practice teaching; observe experienced teachers and complete four written assignments. Input sessions on language awareness and methodology are held in the mornings, and teaching practice is in the afternoons. Trainees have to complete four written assignments and observe British Council teachers on four occasions during the course. In addition, each trainee is assessed on six full hours of observed teaching practice with two groups of students at different levels.
