Purley Nursery School and Children’s Centre offers integrated Education and Care places for 3 and 4 year olds and a range of provision to support families within the Community. We are open 7.45 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. across 49 weeks of the year. We have a highly qualified multi-professional team of Early Years teachers and Early Years Educators. While your child is with us, she/he learns to be an independent, happy and confident person. Staff carefully plan activities across the whole environment that support all six areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We believe that children learn by ‘doing’ supported by discussion with an interested adult.

Aims:

Photo of Nursery School / Preschool in Croydon, LondonResearch has shown that children learn more in the first five years than at any other time in their lives. We will:

1. establish strong links with parents, involving them in their children's progress and the ways in which they learn, recognising the crucial role of parental involvement in their child's education.
2. ensure that the transition from home to school and later from Nursery on to Reception Class is a happy time.
3. value and promote the diversity of race, culture, beliefs and faiths which each child brings.

We aim to provide high quality teaching and learning experiences which will enable every child to become a happy and confident learner, recognising that each child will develop at their own pace and in their own way physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally.

Every Child Matters:

All Croydon Children’s Centres’ services are planned around the five ‘Every Child Matters’ Themes…developed by Government in consultation with what children saw as the five most important issues, which are:

* Being healthy
* Staying safe
* Enjoying and achieving
* Making a positive contribution
* Achieving economic well-being

Programs:

Early Years Foundation Program for for three and four year olds; Preschool Program; Full-time Programs; Part-time Programs. Our curriculum follows all six areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): Creative; Physical; Communication, Language and Literacy; Mathematical; Personal, Social and Emotional; Knowledge and Understanding of the World.

First Days:

Image of Nursery School / Preschool in Croydon, LondonWe realise the importance of establishing close links between home and school. Staff visit families who are new to the Centre before their child starts if they would like to take up this opportunity. These visits have proved to be of great benefit to parents, children and staff and the settling-in process can be eased as a consequence. However, even though you may have been visited at home, our building, staff and children may be new to your child and she/he may initially feel anxious at being left (even if she/he has previously attended another nursery). Our 'Settling In’ booklet will hopefully provide re-assurance if you are new to the Centre.

A member of staff will arrange for you to stay with your child for as much time that she/he needs until she/he feels confident in your leaving and being in new surroundings with new people. We value the time you spend with us in the early days, and it gives you a good opportunity to meet all staff and see what the children will be doing. When you do go, always tell your child that you are going and will be coming back soon. By being honest, your child learns to trust and have confidence in us as well as you.

Fund Raising:

Each year we hold fund raising events. In the past these have included a Christmas Sponsored Treasure Hunt and a Summer Sponsored Event. Proceeds are put into the School Fund which enables us to buy into extra-curricula activities for children e.g. musicians; puppet shows etc. We also raise funds throughout the year by Book Sales and other similar events.

Rochester Independent College, Kent
Courses / Programs
Rochester Independent College, in the County of Kent, just east of London, offers a distinctive alternative to a conventional sixth form and a stepping stone between school and university.

Established in 1984, we accept day students from the age of 11. Boarding is available for A-level students and Year 11 students on GCSE courses who are aged 16 or older.

Students come to us from all over the UK and the world, as well as the local area. There are no bells ringing, no uniforms and everybody is on first name terms. The College has an atmosphere closer to university than school where students are treated as young adults.

About 65 of the College's 280 students are boarders. Our Halls combine the informality of a university residence with the supervision and pastoral support appropriate for young adults.

The College offers students the opportunity to thrive in an atmosphere of managed independence and acts as a stepping stone between school and university.

Our focus is on examination success in a lively, supportive and informal atmosphere. Students are encouraged to be themselves and achieve exam results that often exceed their expectations. Rochester Independent College is accredited by the ISC (Independent Schools Council).

Moreton Hall Prep School
Courses / Programs
Moreton Hall Prep School is a co-educational, private, junior school for boys and girls from Nursery through to Prep school (ages 3-13), offering boarding (ages 7-13) and day facilities (ages 3-13). It is located in Bury St Edmunds, a town in the county of Suffolk in the south-east of England, approximately 90 minutes north-east of London and 30 minutes east of Cambridge.

Our small school size but spacious surroundings allow us to look after each boy or girl as an individual in an environment they find both understanding and supportive. Our class sizes ensure that overseas students integrate fully and receive an educational experience they enjoy while they are with us, and value afterwards.

Each boy and girl is a welcome member of our family for who they are; no-one needs to be worried about being overlooked, misunderstood or side-lined. This inclusiveness is at the heart of our school’s strength.

After all, good teaching depends and thrives upon the quality of the relationship between teacher and student. The better they understand each other, the more the rapport is tailored at a personal level, the more fruitful and lasting are the educational gains.
