Dublin City University (DCU) is a university situated in Glasnevin on the Northside of Dublin in Ireland. Created as the National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin in 1975, it enrolled its first students in 1980 and was elevated to university status in 1989 by statute. The university has a particularly strong research record, it is a research led university, and has regularly been recorded as bringing in more research income per members of faculty - or indeed as a percentage of total income - than any other university in Ireland. Its research team working on sensors at the National Centre for Sensor Research is considered one of the best in the world.

Dublin City University, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences

Dublin City University is delighted to offer a brand-new post-graduate MA in Comparative Literature. This exciting new Master of Arts degree is designed to further the student's knowledge and proficiency in English literature. This programme offers graduates in languages, and related arts and humanities subjects, a cross-disciplinary, inter-medial training, which includes theoretical aspects and practical analysis of literature. This degree can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis.

DCU is the only Irish university offering such a degree. Graduates in languages and related arts and humanities subjects now have the opportunity to combine their chosen disciplines in their postgraduate studies. Some of the students who have been awarded this MA have gone on to do a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature. Others are now literary critics, writers, editors working with publishers, teachers, academics, librarians and cultural event organisers.

National Children's Nurseries Association

The National Children's Nurseries Association (NCNA), based in south of Dublin City, Ireland was established in 1988 to promote high standards of quality childcare. We have a membership of 800 organisations throughout Ireland, the majority of which are full day-care providers for children aged 3mths - 6yrs. We offer a range of childcare courses in centres throughout the country including FETAC Level 5 and Level 6 childcare certificate courses. Locations include Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Meath, Kerry, Sligo among many others.

Our main aim is to emphasise the importance of early childhood experiences by working consistently to increase the quality of day-care in Ireland, through education, information and support of all involved in this sector. We concentrate on providing advice, support and training for member nurseries as well as raising public awareness regarding issues in the childcare sector. The NCNA offers a wide range of training courses and workshops on week nights and at the weekends so that full time childcare practitioners can avail of them outside work hours.
