Full-time health care diploma programs range in length from 21-88 weeks. All full time programs include mandatory clinical/practical field placements. Programs include:

Personal Support Worker
The objective of the Personal Support Worker Program is to equip students with the clinical skills and competence in a variety of clinical and interactive skills necessary for employment in a community or health care setting. The responsibilities of the Personal Support Worker include assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, household management, meal preparation, ongoing medical conditions and medications, documentation procedures and vital signs. The Personal Support Worker will also be skilled in cognitive impairment and mental health issues, as well as providing optimal support and care planning.

Social Service Worker
The SSW program is very intensive, involving a great deal of small group work, practice interviews and exercises in self-awareness. Employment opportunities for those with Social Service Worker training are becoming more and more widespread, especially in the private sector. The varied aspects of the profession offered in the program maximize your career opportunities upon graduation, while providing an opportunity to research openings and forge contacts in areas of personal interest. One of the unique features of the program is the Selected Practice Issues course. This allows the student to concentrate on an area of personal interest in this widely varied field. Graduates of our Social Service Worker program can expect to be eligible for an entry-level position in a variety of settings in the social work field. 

Developmental Service Worker
The objective of the Developmental Service Worker Program is to enable students to serve those with developmental, learning and/or physical disabilities or mental disorders. Students acquire the knowledge and skill base to effectively interview, asses, assist, and counsel clients and their families. The DSW program itself is condensed and intensive. The program studies the areas of psychology, sociology, behavioural management, communication as well as pharmacology and teaching strategies for the developmentally challenged.

Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Level 1 & 2
The objective of the Intra-Oral Dental Assisting program is to train students to attain skills and demonstrate competence in essential dental office procedures and laboratory techniques. These areas of study include preliminary examination procedures, assisting at chair side using fourhanded dentistry, charting, appointment scheduling, keeping patient records and sterilizing instruments. The assistant can also expose and develop radiographs. Students receive extensive training in all intra-oral skills. 

Dental Hygiene
The objective of the Dental Hygiene Program is to educate our students to be proficient in both the theory and practical skills that are essential to being a competent Dental Hygiene Professional. With that goal in mind, Medix School aims to provide a solid theorical base along with strong clinical skills placing great emphasis on the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a variety of specific client needs.
 
Medical Office Assistant
The objective of the Medical Office Assistant program is to allow students to acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of medical office administrative and clinical skills necessary for employment in the health care related setting. The medical office administrative skills include bookkeeping, billing and collection, records management, patient data collection, typing, transcription, word processing, Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), appointment scheduling, written correspondence and telephone techniques.

Medical and General Laboratory Assistant
The objective of the Medical and General Lab Assistant program is to train students to acquire skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of medical office procedures and laboratory techniques under the direct supervision of a physician, Medical Lab Technologist or other health care professionals.

Start an exciting new career in the rapidly-growing field of allied healthcare with NorQuest College in downtown Edmonton, Alberta. NorQuest College provides a Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate program. Licensed to deliver the Alberta Health and Wellness HCA provincial curriculum, our HCA program is available in a range of study modes: Full-time study (21 weeks), Part-time study (32 weeks), Distance learning (32 weeks), Online learning (32 weeks). The full-time program is available only in downtown Edmonton. Part-time study is available in Edmonton and also Wetaskiwin, Stony Plain, Hinton, Drayton Valley, and select communities throughout Alberta, based on interest.

St. Clair College, Ontario
Courses / Programs
Located in Windsor, Ontario, St. Clair College provides an advanced diploma course in Diagnostic Medical Sonography through our Centre for Applied Health Sciences. This program is 2.5 years in duration and will prepare you for entry-to-practice as a General Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Ultrasound Technologist) in settings including hospitals, clinical laboratories, and other health care facilities.

The overall goals and objectives of the program are aligned with the current National Competency Profiles (NCP) for the Generalist, as approved by the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (CSDMS) boards and the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP).

The role of a sonographer is to perform examinations that will provide diagnostic ultrasound images for interpretation by a medical radiologist. Using advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and physical applications, the sonographer will produce images of internal body structures utilizing a variety of hand-held acoustical scanning probes and imaging techniques.
