Dental / Medical Diploma Programs:

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Diploma:
This is a 20-month (5 Term) program providing didactic and clinical education in abdominal, obstetrical, and gynecologic specialty areas. The program is a general concentration curriculum with a limited introduction to basic vascular Sonography. Clinical education occurs at partnering medical centers and medical clinics throughout Ontario. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) national registry examinations

Dental Hygiene Diploma:
This 18-month program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). It develops scientific and general education, professional and clinical skills to enable graduates to provide comprehensive, client-centered Dental Hygiene care. It covers courses in behavioural sciences, biomedical sciences, oral health sciences, dental hygiene theory and practice as well as clinical experience.

Dental Assistant Diploma:
This 32-week program responds to the unique challenges faced by dental teams that require staff to assume a wide range of responsibilities. High demand in the industry for appropriately-trained personnel is the impetus for offering this Dental Chair Side Assistant Program. Most dental assistants work in private offices for one or more dentists. Other assistants work in public health departments, clinics, hospitals, and dental schools.

Dental / Medical Office Administrator Diploma:
Our aging population, new technology, and medical advances are fueling a critical demand for effectively-trained Dental Medical Office Administrators. Graduates of this program are qualified to work in an administrative capacity in any setting such as private and specialty dental & medical offices, dental medical clinics and insurance firms.

Located in Windsor, Ontario, St. Clair College provides an advanced diploma course in Diagnostic Medical Sonography through our Centre for Applied Health Sciences. This program is 2.5 years in duration and will prepare you for entry-to-practice as a General Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Ultrasound Technologist) in settings including hospitals, clinical laboratories, and other health care facilities.

The overall goals and objectives of the program are aligned with the current National Competency Profiles (NCP) for the Generalist, as approved by the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (CSDMS) boards and the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP).

The role of a sonographer is to perform examinations that will provide diagnostic ultrasound images for interpretation by a medical radiologist. Using advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and physical applications, the sonographer will produce images of internal body structures utilizing a variety of hand-held acoustical scanning probes and imaging techniques.
