A member country of the European Union (EU), Malta consists of an a group of islands situated centrally in the Mediterranean Sea. It is situated approximately 93 km south of Italy. English is one of the two official languages of Malta (the other being Maltese).
This makes Malta ideal for those wanting to learn English in a highly-popular tourist destination, especially as part of a wonderful holiday experience.
Malta has a warm climate, fine beaches and many sites of historical interest, including nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, most prominently the Megalithic Temples which are the oldest free-standing structures in the world. The island of Gozo is part of the Republic of Malta and lies approximately 6 km northwest of the nearest point of Malta.
