The English Studio:
We are a language school based in the vibrant area of Shepherds Bush, West London, just 20 minutes from Oxford St. We offer courses with experienced, highly qualified teachers, extensive resources (free internet and computers, library) at great value.
General English, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS exam preparation. Our aim is to always put the student first.
We believe learning should be fun. That’s why all our lessons are interactive and dynamic. (Research says you learn better when you’re having fun.)
- Each week, you’ll study grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation
- You’ll also practise reading, writing, listening, speaking and skills.
- We’ll tell you what you’re going to learn at the start of each class.
- We’ll always teach you language that is useful in real life. (“Which way to the Dali exhibition?” for example. Or “Can I have your phone number, please?”)
- We’ll give you homework several times a week and correct it.
- We’ll correct your spoken and written mistakes.
- We’ll give you regular tests on what you’ve learned.
- We’ll answer any questions you have and give individual help.
- We’ll choose materials from many different books and resources not just one dull course book.
- We’ll tuck you up in bed at night and read you a bedtime story.
Location:
If London is the coolest city on Earth, then we must be the coolest school. Why? One school is inches from world famous Covent Garden. The other two are right next to trendy Notting Hill. You can’t get much cooler than that.
One-to-one courses:
Unlike some schools, we give you lots of attention. Our highly trained teachers spend quality time with every student. But that’s not all we do. We help book a place for you to live, help you prepare for exams and even give great career advice.
High standards in teaching English:
You’ve travelled a long way to be with us. The least we can do is provide you with the best teachers, a carefully planned syllabus, extensive self-study materials and multimedia facilities. So, that’s exactly what we do. High quality English courses are what we are known for.
Who can you expect to meet?
Like London itself, our school is an exciting melting-pot. We’ve made many friends - from over 80 different countries! Agewise, most people are between 18 and 45. So whoever you are and wherever you’re from, we guarantee you’ll feel at home.
Putting you first:
We think we’re the best school in London. But we’re not the only ones. Our students agree. We regularly ask them how we’re doing. ‘Brilliantly’ is the answer. And if anyone comes up with an idea to help things run even more smoothly, we do it. Immediately.
We organise a weekly programme of sightseeing, cultural and leisure activities. These activities are ideal to allow you to practise your English, learn about London and the UK and meet friends. The programme is so varied that there is something to suit all tastes and if students want to do something different, we will always do our best to organise it.
There are cultural, theatre and museum visits, nightclubs and pubs as well as classical and pop music concerts. We also have many events at the school, including: parties, music nights with the teachers and film nights with the latest DVD releases.
Our sightseeing trips include the Houses of Parliament, Madame Tussaud’s, river trips as well as excursions to Oxford, Cambridge, and Stratford upon Avon and other famous places.
The English Studio offers a student accommodation in a residence based in zone 2 of the London underground, from which it takes up to 30-40 minutes to arrive at either of our schools. They are simply furnished, and offer budget self catering accommodation sharing with other students from the language school. Students should book and pay one month in advance to be sure to get a place.
Staying in a homestay is ideal for the English language student as it provides the opportunity to speak English outside the classroom and the experience of being part of a British home. The host will provide accommodation and meals
as booked.
Rooms will be cleaned and bed-linen and towels changed at least once a week. The student will be provided with his/her own house key and the host is there to offer help, advice and take an interest in the student’s well-being. Students will not be placed in the same homestay as others of the same mother tongue, except by special request.
