Abbey Road Programs, Nice:
Set in the stunning surroundings of Nice, on the south coast of France, Abbey Road Programs provides a 4-week residential French language immersion summer course for high school students in Grades 9-12. With classes for beginner to advanced levels, we offer French studies in the Arts, Language, Culture, Sports and Recreation including a range of specialized elective courses such as French film, literature, pop culture, and more.

Daily Schedule:
When imagining what your summer in Nice will be like think of the program in terms of weekdays versus weekends: Monday through Friday you will take classes, hang out with friends, enjoy meals in the residence, and explore the city through group activities. 
Your French language class meets every morning while your pre-selected elective meets on a tri-weekly basis. This frees up two afternoons per week to try things like parasailing, sea kayaking, ceramics, beach volleyball, to visit a new exhibit or to simply enjoy an afternoon treasure hunt in the local markets.
On weekends the schedule shifts as we tour the surrounding region. Your program staff has pre-planned excursions and day trips so that Saturdays and Sundays are your opportunity to get “out” and explore (and also sleep in a little if needed).
Day Trips:
Nice is quite literally surrounded by some of the most beautiful sites in France; rest assured we won’t let you go home without seeing as many of them as possible! Be prepared to wonder at Picasso’s master wor
ks in incredible Antibes and bask in the opulence of Monte Carlo with its princely palace and its storied casino.
Prepare yourself for a journey back in time during our exploration of the medieval perched village of Saint Paul de Vence and be transported further still as we tantalize our senses at Fragonard Parfumerie located in the picturesque village of Èze. We may even skip over the border into Italy for a visit to Ventimiglia for pizza and gelato!
Optional Travel Extension – Paris:
Ah, Paris! The city of lights! Delicious food, fantastic art, amazing architecture, the list goes on and on. A four-day visit to Paris is the perfect way to complete an Abbey Road adventure in France. Our exciting itinerary includes both guided visits to museums and historical sites and time for you to discover the city’s famous neighborhoods.
Sure we will show you the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, the Centre Pompidou, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower, among others, but you will also be free (within our safety guidelines) to enjoy the city’s famous café scene and shopping districts with your good friends in tow. Who knows, you just might even take a dinner cruise on the river Seine!

Our History of Western Civilization program combines travel, adventure, history and cultural immersion as students in Grades 9-12 spend 6 nights each in Athens, Rome, Florence and Paris traveling and exploring alongside our staff of expert instructors, who specialize in European history from Ancient Greece to Revolutionary France.The Paris leg of our History of Western Civilization program takes the Bastille, Versailles, Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle, the Arc de Triomphe, and other landmarks while opening up a discussion on the Middle Ages, the era of absolute monarchy, the French Revolution, and the French Enlightenment. We also visit the Louvre, Museé d’Orsay, and the Centre Pompidou.
Discuss Athenian daily life at the Ancient Agora right underneath the Acropolis in Athens, walk in Caesar’s footsteps in the Roman Forum, marvel at Michelangelo’s works in Florence’s Piazza della Signoria and contemplate Louis XIV’s idea of Absolutism while sitting in the gardens of Versailles. Notre Dame International High School (NDIHS) is an international high school, conveniently located 30 minutes north-west of Paris, that provides an American-styled high school curriculum to students from around the world in Grades 9-12. Our summer French classes take place at the Nacel French Language School, close to the Tolbiac or Place d'Italie metro stations.
While our academic year curriculum is taught in English, we also offer an extensive French language and culture program as well as enrichment courses (music, art, physical education) throughout the year, taught by French teachers.
Our 2-week intensive French summer course in August is recommended for new and returning students, who are not native French language speakers, to prepare to study at NDIHS in September, when the academic year starts.
We teach students from beginner to advanced level. Students attend morning French classes, and discover the main Parisian sights in afternoon activities.
Students improve their French knowledge while settling in Paris and adapting to their new life in France. Accommodation is organized in a residence located in Paris city center.
