STAR_ Studium Architecturae-Florence Design School is an architecture and design studio located in Florence's 'Via degli Artisti', a district known for its history of artistic production. We provide a Master of Interior & Furniture Design, Master of Architecture and Urban Design and short courses about these disciplines for locally-based and international students.

The school's unique identity derives from work on authentic projects with clients and suppliers - site inspections and on-site experience - together with visits to workshops, laboratories, factories and stores. The school aims to give its students an education at 360°, starting from an experience in the studio and on-site which will take everyone on their own journey to discover the essence, or heart, of reality.

OUR METHOD:

The students will participate in a real project within our firm. In fact we start from the clients' requests and we try to understand what they really want and we attempt to discover their true identity. The reason for this is that we need to create the clients' universe in the given space (residential or store or exhibition). In order to fully understand the clients' fragmented desire and needs, we must dedicate time to talk about them, both in the office and on site.

When we feel that we have gained an intimate knowledge of the clients and the spirit of the place (Genius Loci) we can begin to elaborate the three factors of composition:
a) Construction; b) Function; c) Beauty, that must come together to meet the clients' requests.

The Florence Art Studio

Courses / Programs

The Florence Art Studio offers custom-made, intensive art courses in drawing and painting for students of all levels and backgrounds in the heart of Florence city center.

Taught entirely in English, our intensive Art Program is divided into 6 separate modules covering drawing & painting skills, with each module serving as the foundation for the next. Alternatively, you can choose to take any module as a stand-alone course, from one week to a month or longer.

We help students achieve their goals in the most time-effective way possible through intensive individual training and one on one instruction.

Our students learn how to learn, be patient, disciplined, and objectively self-critical to transform every small obstacle or challenge into a rewarding lesson.

We seek students wishing to learn for self-improvement only. We do not offer academic credit, but we are affiliated with the British Institute of Florence, an accredited institution by the Tuscan government.

We also offer short workshops throughout the year including Watercolor, Still Life, Fresco and Oil Painting, private lessons, weekend classes, holiday & vacation programs, and preparation courses for entrance exams to Fine Arts schools.
