Wizbots Robotics, Bay Area Year-Round & Summer Camps:
At Wizbots, our aim is to inspire kids in the pursuit of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Our Robotics & Coding Camps revolve around robotics so as to instantly engage and provide campers with a fun, applied way to learn Java programming and creative problem-solving. Perfect for both novices and advanced campers, they all learn coding, engineering, and design in a hands-on, collaborative environment. Campers journey through our extensive, gamified curriculum at their own pace, tackling new project challenges with each move and earning bands of recognition with each promotion. The journey is deep, so campers can join us week after week and always learn something new. And, parents get to experience all the fun too as their child's project videos are posted online to see and share! All camps are led by experienced Mentors with a passion for education and a deep sense of play and fun. Girls and boys, alike, find Wizbots instantly engaging, social, and fun!
LEGO Robotics & Java Coding Summer Camps and After-School Programs for kids ages 8-14:
All kids begin as a Novice. The first step is to become Lab Certified, then progress through the 7 levels of the "Path to Mastery." Advancement is based on (a) amount of lab time, (b) completed projects, and (c) demonstrated proficiency of Knowledge Nuggets. Knowledge Nuggets are bite-size chunks of knowledge, skill, and experience within various subject areas. Participation in any Wizbots after school program, summer camp, or event adds to a child's experience and progression.
All students new to Wizbots start here.
The student is productive in the lab after being introduced to the basic equipment, ideas, and ways of working.
The student has been exposed to a wide variety of materials and types of projects. Can build fundamental structures, incorporate core sensors, and successfully program working robots. Has a track record of completing projects.
For students who wish to go deeper, this level focuses on more sophisticated mechanisms. New subject areas are introduced.
Students are fully independent in lab, capable of bringing a project from conception through iteration to completion.
Students have a consistent track record of Experimental, Persistent, Imaginative, and Collaborative performance in the lab.
This level emphasizes programming and advanced mechanisms to build more intelligent and capable robots.
This level introduces a number of sophisticated programming elements that require greater fluency in math. Advanced sensors are introduced which drive growth in programming skill in an engaging manner. The Wizbots Master has developed fluency in all subject areas and has a track record in applying this knowledge in creative and inventive ways to challenging projects.
