Mt. Helix Academy is a private preparatory school in La Mesa in San Diego County CA. In addition to the academic programs that we offer throughout the year for kindergarten through Grade 8 students, we also offer a range of high-quality summer programs for kindergarten, elementary and middle school kids. Our academic / enrichment summer programs help to prepare students for the next school year. Our AIM HIGH summer program for 2nd to 6th graders and our "Firm up" classes for middle school students help students who may be struggling to catch up.

"Get Ready": A caring school preparatory summer camp for 4.5 to 6 year olds:
Get Ready is a very special summer camp designed to prepare 4.5 to 6-year old children for success in Kindergarten or 1st grade. Two sessions of four or five weeks are held each summer.
"Get Set": An extraordinary academic enrichment and day camp for 1st through 6th graders:
Get Set’s morning enrichment program together with the afternoon day camp encourages students to make new friends and have a fun-filled summer that allows them to Get Set for a truly successful year in school.
- Academic enrichment is conducted each morning, during which students hone and expand their reading, writing, language arts, and mathematics skills in the context of high-interest themes and under the direction of talented, credentialed educators. Students get lots of computer time for writing and editing, for thinking and problem solving, and they learn to use the scientific method to work out fascinating problems.
- Day Camp Activities: In the afternoons, students engage in a variety of sports activities, arts and crafts, and, for campers in Grades 2-6, swimming at Mission Bay. There are also movie days and a variety of team-building activities.
AIM HIGH Summer Program: Allows 2nd to 6th graders to catch up by building fluency in basic academic skills:
If your child has trouble starting or finishing school work, makes careless mistakes, or could do the work “if only s/he tried harder,” our AIM HIGH Summer Program is the right place. This program is designed for students who are struggling in school and may have fallen behind. Students get an intensive, yet very positive and highly successful program that builds fluency in fundamental reading, language, and/or math skills. Each student’s program is closely monitored by a teacher, who instructs no more than five students for the session.
Mt. Helix Academy’s optional afternoon Summer Camp is a fun program filled with crafts, activities, and sports. The Summer Camp option is available to AIM HIGH Summer Program students from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
“Jump start” summer classes for middle school students who want to get a “jump start” on next year:
Middle School Summer Classes “jump start” classes in mathematics and language arts are designed for students who just completed 5th, 6th, or 7th grade and who want to be prepared for next year’s classes. It is the intelligent choice for motivated middle school students who want to get a “jump start” on next school year.
“Firm up” summer classes for middle school students who struggled last school year:
Our program also provides important review classes for those middle school students who struggled some last school year. “Firm up” classes are designed for students who just completed 6th, 7th, or 8th grade and who will benefit from a review of material taught during the year.
Afternoon Activities and Summer Sports program:
The Afternoon Activities and Summer Sports program begins as soon as the day’s camp activities are completed and consists of both outside and indoor activities. Team games, including kickball, soccer, wallball, and four square, will be outside on our playground. Fun indoor activities will include arts and crafts, board games, puzzles, card building, movies, computer fun, free play, and much more!
Morning & Afternoon Childcare:
Morning and afternoon childcare is available for the children of parents who need an extended day. The Afternoon Activities and Summer Sports program begins as soon as the day’s camp activities are completed and consists of both outside and indoor activities.
