The specific focus of the school is to prepare students for entry to top universities worldwide. Specialised Secondary Education (Year 11-13):
Year 11 students study the Preparation Year Programme for IB Diploma, while Year 12 and 13 students study the IB Diploma itself. In addition, all students study a SAT preparation course.

Otaki College is a small (450 students), rural, multicultural school, uniformed, coeducational school which takes students from Year 7 to Year 13.
